Just wondering if you have tried applesauce,icecream, pudding? If the pill is not time-release (might want to ask a doctor first), try crushing it up, mix with a bowl of applesauce and whatever you do, don't tell him that is what you have done. The thought may turn the idea into a non-working idea. This would be the only thing I can think of other than liquid form, which, I don't think it comes in. (I'm really not sure)Goodluck
At last I win! I got him to take it by breaking it open and putting it in a teaspoon of apple sauce. I had tried everything under the son. I even went out and bought the one thing I knew he wanted more than anything..... a playstation2. so using that as the reward, I finally got him to want to try. Thanks for all the help

just a note: the pharmacy told me none of the meds come in liquid form or chewable
jakobsmom38207.8415162037If you absolutely can't get pills down him, ask your dr for a med which comes in liquid form. Some of them do but I'm not sure which ones.

Hi I am a mom looking for some help!! my son was diagnosed with adhd, and on Monday the doctor prescribed strattera. I thought I was in for a repreive, then I found out these medications ( for kids) only come in pills. He absolutely refuses to take the pills. I have tried everything that I can think of, been on the phone with doctors office and pharmacy several times daily since. Looking for some advice on getting him to take these pills. He spits the pills out, and when I put it in apple juice, he spit that out too. this last for hours.

I am glad you finally won the battle. For some kids, making them swallow a pill is like giving them a death sentence. I use to be one of those kids. My mother had to crush everything up for me. It's a mind thing and if she would put in anything without crushing it up I would gag and gag and just about choke to death. The thought of swallowing a pill would make my throat tense up and when I would try to swallow, I would in fact choke. Do you know that it took me all my life to learn how to swallow a pill? I am 31 years old and I finally learned to swallow pills about 2/3 years ago, I too had to use applesauce. Sometimes, I still use applesauce if the pill is real big. I have these huge IB Profane pills that I take several times a day for back pain and from time to time they go down the wrong way and it freaks me out and I have to remember that I am not really choking that if I keep drinking it will go down. My daughter who is 10 has always swallowed her Ritalin pills with nothing to drink at all, I just don't understand how she does that and I fuss at her all the time and make her drink something after taking the pill.

I am glad to hear that u were able to get ur son to take his meds...I know wit my little bro my Mom had a hard time....lol....I had to hold him down before and now he will take his meds on his own when he sees that mom has left them out for him...
