Hello fellow tail chaisers.
.....I'm suzie, I have ADHD.
I'm damaged.
I have a much improved quality of life since adderrall XR.
....I feel like living, instead of stabing myself in the head to get out of my own way.
I actually took up painting commercially, in addition to my night manager/server at a resturant.
I found I was taking 30 mlgms at 7:00am to go paint x-mas murals...
..then 30 more mgrms to go to my real job at 2:00
The spell lifts around 6:00pm when it's time to focus on closing tasks and deposits to be compiled.
okay.
My Dr. gave me in addition to the adderrall XR ....ritilin. to push on a bit longer, and the duration is'nt as long says he ...as needed.
.........I don't have these long days everyday.
my questions to you are:
1. Am I damaged, or almost beyond help?
cause my wires are so hard to keep connected?...my tolerence...ugh!
2. Is 60 mlgrams a day (2/ 30mgrm pills a day) alot compared to others?
3. does anyone take adderall, and ritilin?
4. did you take one of em before, and now prefer the other alone?
5. does ritilin make you feel "jonesy"? weird ?....or irritable when you come down?
6. is there something I should know?
Nice people...
....I would appreciate anything you can offer....I'm scared of ritilin.
I heard bad things about it, and won't fill the script until I feel educated enough about it.
.............And, if I can help you understand something I know that you don't,
I will return the favor.
*smiles*
thank you in advance...
Hello NAnutshell -
and welcome!
Ok - here goes -
1) No - you are NOT beyond help! Though you are damaged by the life of ADHD without help and comfort (we ALL are here - you are amongst the wounded here), it DOES get better! Meds and therapy are a good start.
2) 30mg twice daily of XR is right about the middle. Many do well with 10mg - many need to actually take 60mg it all depends on the person and severity of ADHD they are dealing with. If you wish to stay at 30mg I would recommend if possible taking "med vacations" - where you go 2 months every day taking your med - then stop taking it for a week. When you start again you should find it works as good as the first day you started. Many do.
3) I take dexedrine (another type of med similar to adderall), and many here take Ritalin, concerta and other types of these meds. Others take Strattera or antidepressants. Many take no meds at all but choose to take either therapy or nutritional and exercise changes to make it through. All can help - each person is different.
4) I've been on dexedrine since I found out I have ADHD - about a year ago. Never tried other ways (I did take Stratterra for a week - didn't care for it)
5) many on Ritalin who are what many call "inattentive ADHD" find that they feel droopy and overly focused. Or they are taking too much. Either way many people try one or the other and find that they must switch. Very common.
6) You should know there are people here we call "trolls". They are on a crusade to lie to people and say that all meds are bad and even that we aren't sick - that ADHD is a lie. You should ignore them - they have no real information and are here to hurt you intentionally. They just want to make people cry and be harmed so they should be kept away from.
Just get a good doctor - and if you can a good psychiatrist who have dealt with ADHD before. If you do - you'll feel like you are being kept good care of!
Glad you are here
Nice to meet you too glen!
.....thanks.
I love trolls! let me have em! I need the target practice! I'm definately not shy, I can hold my own!
I have seen people not look too happy on rititlin.
I'll just see if I need them, I s'pose
If I don't run outta adderral at the end of the month....I won't use them.
I could try research at erowid, and the drug interaction checker on discovery health, see what they say.
thanks.
suzie
thanks for the welcome.
