Free Meds! (or close to it) | ADHD Information

Hello fellow ADHD-ers,

I have been diagnosed with ADHD as recently as a month ago and have only knew of this for a couple of months.  I have enjoyed all of your stories that I've read on this site and I feel so good to be a part of, and don't feel so much alone as I did.

I acquired some help in treatment through the County Mental Health system because it was free.  I fortunately had some connections with this system, so I was seen right away.  I even got my first prescription of Ritalin (Godsend) for free by them.  And that was only for two weeks.  They would not fill it no longer than that and I had no money.  Can you imagine?  I was finally feeling "right" and feeling very well after years of feeling "off".  Then to have no more meds.

What did I do?  Feeling very depressed and uncomfortable, I took the non-stimulant STRATERRA, and trudged on until she can get me MEDI-CAL.  But, while I am aging waiting for that, I had found another alternative to share with all of you.  There is a program with which site you may go to in order to get free meds from individual drug companies.  The web site address is: www.RxHelpforCA.org.  Now, I live in CA, but it's nation wide.

I have started the process by making a phone call from the number on the web site and waiting for the various applications to come in.  I'll be sure to post what ensues.  I hope that this is helpful to someone that has no insurance and cash.  Good luck.  Lewiss

Thanks for sharing Lewis I have marked the website I am a social worker and work with mental health clients and with ones with mental retardation and this information is helpful for me to share on my job.  Thanks JillAll the states are jumping on the bandwagon. Since Illinois went gung ho to canada for meds, the doors are OPEN..
