| I GOT A FILE CABINET | |||
| |
Were file cabinets just invented? Why have I never had one before? No more piles of paper, no more lost bills, no more receipts floating everywhere. And the best part, the kids can file. So I just have to sort through and tell them what to file it under, and they think it's fun. I love my file cabinet. I have one too. It filled up years ago with stuff I don't know whether I need to keep or not. Now it sits there and is just one more thing for junk to get piled on.Way to go Donna! I have one too. It filled up and with the help of a friend I learned a new stress reliever. I LOVE to shred things I (legally) do not need to keep. Sometimes we even have shread fest parties. This helps on many levels. I still end up with piles sometimes...ok.....somtimes is sometimes many times.. but.. never all the time anymore. NOw I am looking for a better way to organize the file system. Never would have thought I would actually be looking for a way to tweek my filing system..LOL...I'm trying to organize my organization system.
I now find myself looking at file cabinets wanting to get a bigger one. I don't know if this is very organizational, but I got a laminator for Christmas. A strange gift I know, but I asked for it. I have a home day care and often contact paper over things so they can be reused. Things for calendars etc. or special things the kids have made. Contact paper is a night mare to work with. But the laminator. (sighing for a moment) the laminator is wonderful. And somehow very relaxing to laminate things. I don't have a shredder, but it's on the list. And I have heard from others that shredding is very theraputic. Boxes with a label that in each one has a individual thing you want to keep. Ex. Each box has child's name and school work they have done. I am doing this with our son as proof of daily struggles of school work. The only reason I have a file cabinet is because my ex husband used them and I got them in the divorce!! But I have one is school and I use it all the time now. I go through my old files and redo them in the right order now. I used to just make a file and stick it in the cabinet in the next slot available. Now I alphabetize everything. While I was on adderal for the first time I actually went through my recipe file and alphabetized everything. I couldn't believe it! I could find any recipe I wanted just like that! Usually it takes me a while to sift through each recipe until I found what I needed. Now, it is great! It only took me 10 minutes to alphabetize it. Weird. |
