I think i have ADHD | ADHD Information

this is gonna be a long post so bear with me

i'm 23, and i think i may have ADHD, i've been reading over the Symptoms on the site and many of them apply to me, they always have applied to me but my parents assumed i was just a slow learner but i know that not to be the case, there have been the rare circumstance where i'll pick up a big and complex technical manual and read the whole thing cover to cover and remember every detail in one night, and then there will be the times where i can't even read 3 pages without getting bored.

i also forget things easily, things that should be a snap reflex to remember, names, phone numbers, my own Cell Phone Number, i even have to rethink what age i am sometimes, i think the worst is that sometimes i have trouble remembering exactly how to spell my first name (Michael, but sometimes i switch the a and e).  this isn't just names and locations, sometimes i'll be in the middle of explaining something and i'll forget the word i want to use and look like an idiot while i try to remember what word i was looking for, even when i knew it 10 seconds ago.

another thing is that i talk to myself quite extensively, espessially when i'm alone, and not just when i'm reading or typing, but when i'm trying to figure something out i notice that i'm talking to myself, and sometimes i can't think unless its outloud

as well my organising skills are just terrible, and i've always had a sytrange eye twitch whenever i'm nervous.

now, all my life my parents told me there was nothing wrong with me and that i just didn't take my schooling seriously enough and didn't want to take responsibility for my actions.  i've always felt that there was a good reason i had problems, but nobody had ever tested me for ADHD or even suggested it to me until i randomly stumbled on to this site tonight (just so you all know, its 4:00AM my time)

as far as any of you can tell, am i ADHD or is it something else?
and if it is what can i do to make myself more attentive and better able to concentrate, espessially seeing as i'm finally starting College in september and the last thing i want to do is to fail that

Michael,

Ask your dr about being tested. It sounds possible that you have it but the only way to tell is to be tested. If you do, there are things that can be done to help and enable you to have a more pleasant college experience.
