first timer | ADHD Information

hi, i imagine you have all heard this heaps before but i just started on ritalin and am feeling a little left in the dark.

i got prescribed just before christmas without a lot of discussion about it and started yesterday but haven't got another psych appt for 2wks.  i kinda have a headache and feel a bit off.  i know it's common but i feel like i need someone to normalise the experience for me.

How much Ritalin are you taking(mg/day)? I found Ritalin gave me a headache that went away after about a week. Side effects associated with stimulant medications are common within the first week or so of use.

I would like to jump on this bandwagon of questioning as I two just
started ritalin. My experience is a little different though. I am taking
20mg 2 times a day, at first. I was told I could up it to 3 a day if it was
needed after I got used to the medication. At first it was unbelievable
how well I could function. I actually sat down and organized a lot of
information into a central location, ical on my mac, which I have been
meaning to do for oh about twenty years. However, last night I started to
get a strange head ache toward the back and base of my head. Along
with the headache I noticed the effectiveness of the medication was
extremely diminished. As this was occurring at about the five to six hour
mark, sense taking the medication, I assumed it was time for the next
one. This just led to a slight increase in the headache with none of the
benefits I had noticed over the past couple days. Then today the first
dose initially led to me being able to concentrate better and such but
about three hours in the head ache returned and the benies left. I am not
scheduled to go to the doc for about another week and a half, which I will
do before changing anything, but I was just wondering if anyone might
have experienced this or know someone who has and could give me some
insight as to what might be going on.
