Watching movie question | ADHD Information

My husband can watch any movie.  He loves to watch TV too.  I get really bored with TV.  I love to watch certain movies.

 

At home, I have to do something while watching TV or movies.

I love to watch movies at the theatre, but I do tend to zone.. I watch the movie, enjoy it throroughly, then I will get asked about a specific scene or will overhear the discussion -- for the life of me, I cant remember what in the world they are talking about!!

I can only watch movies that I'm really interested in.  If not, I get very annoyed and restless.

Same with TV shows, there are only a few I like.

Same with the radio, I flip the stations constantly, if I don't love the song then it grates on my nerves to listen to it.

Like many of you, I can't watch something that is not good quality. I hate most sitcoms and network reality shows get on my last good nerve. I like stuff on TLC, The Discovery Channel and The History Channel. I also love comedy sketch programs like "Mad TV", "Kids In The Hall" and SNL.

 I can't stand reality shows either. 

Very good movies I can do.
Very select television shows also.
Otherwise they are too slow, too boring and I can't do it.

I can read in the same way. Good writing absorbs me.

Many people can say the same as I've said above. Many WOULD. But it is a question of degree.

I'm not a movie or tv watcher. I get restless and tend to 'tune-out'.  I don't even have cable but I do watch TV once a week (Thur) when the good shows are on. Either than that, I can't be bothered.

If I know I'm going to like the movie, I have no problem in watching it.

I love a good movie or video game because it actually stops my mind from thinking and worring about all the other stuff. I usually will constantly flip channels while watching t.v. and sometimes watch 2 or 3 things at once. I never watch t.v.movies though, once the commercial comes on I move on to something else.

I love to watch movies, but I can't just sit and watch, i have to be doing something else. Like fold clothes, or match socks or organize something.  It is very hard for me to do one thing, I have to multi task or I get bored and tune out.  or fall asleep. 

Can you go to a movie theater?

Do you add'ers not like to watch movies.  I have always been like that for some reason and now I think its because of my add.  I just don't want to focus and sit for a whole 2 hrs.  But I can watch tv fine and sports and all that.  Am I on to something or is it just me? I love going to the Movies . . . but if their is someone
whispering every 2 min @ what's going on, I have to
move to another seat. I will usually end up doing this
anywhere from two to four times, usually at the
begining [first 15 min] of a movie . . .Does anyone
else ever do this ?   

I just remembered a bad movie theater expereince and it was a total adhd moment.

I was on a date with a very good looking guy and he wanted to see Dirty DAnceing.  so we went and to tell you the truth the movie was so slow that tuned it out and watched people or i felll asleep.  We walk out and he was so excited about this movie and thought it was great.  I just wanted to go home by now my brain was empty and i could concentrate on anything.  The next day i called my girlfriend and told her the movie was dumb.  She was so angry at me, because she wanted to see it.  Needless to say I have seen the movie several times and actually do like it, but at the time I thought it was the worst movie I had ever see.

oh my god i'm adhd  i can't sit and watch a movie..i hate going to the theater because i can't pause the movie. i have never been dx as add or adhd but i'm pretty sure now that i am..Movies! Mmmm.. well i always have been very selective.. had to be or i would leave or tune out... waste of valuable time. Television same.. I watchout for the legshake sign and i am outta there. Incessent channel flicker. It must be total absorbsion or i am twisting in the wind... Ah!!. Ad breaks and i am gone to other channel.
