thanks, chjones,
You knew I'd be here.
Hi all..
I am looking for any info on natural/diet remedies or aides for ADHD. My insurance co pays are changing in Jan. My co pays for prescriptions will be going from 40 a month to 70 a month! Does anyone have some good advice? I also have depression that I take meds for which is part of the 70 dollars.
Also, I am getting a bit tired of the side effects. I HAVE to take my medication with food. I have to have enough food or about 2 hours later I start to sweat and get really nauseous. As a teacher, I cannot just stop and deal with it either. I have been eating tums like crazy.
So any suggestions are welcome! Thanks.
try checking out the Alternative & Complementary Medicine
section of this site. i wouldn't guarantee that it will necessarily be much cheaper - some alternative meds can be very expensive too. you might just want to change your dosage or the med itself - there is more than one for ADHD (adderall, ritalin, strattera, focalin, concerta et al - and there all the various generic versions the dexedrine spansules, methylpheniwhatever etc. etc.)
(and just to beat annidagostini to it!) there is also a book you might like to consider called "Stopping ADHD" with a set of crawling exercises which has had great effect for anni herself.
otherwise Omega 3s and magnesium and doing a food allergy test all seem to bring about positive results too.
good luck!
