victim of adderall??? | ADHD Information

Hi!  This is my first post.  I've been on adderall for about a year now, and before that, I was on concerta.  My friends have been commenting on how i'm less fun when i'm medicated, and recently my little sister told me that she likes me better when I don't take my meds.  I can see where they are coming from, but I don't want to get off the adderall, because it really helps me with school.  Is there anything I can get the energy and cheerfullness back that I had before I started taking medicine, without being unmedicated?

You know, my niece told me exactly the same thing. What ended up happening is that, after another week or two adjustment.. I was still just as hyper as i was, I just seemed to be able to keep track of what was going on around me and could maintain a conversation on the same topic instead of jumping around all over the place.

I remember asking her if I was better now.. and her reply was ( while she was jumping up and down in her chair and swinging her feet, mimicking me) yep, I think your the same ol person!

I honestly think that I'm probably not on the optimal dose. I still struggle with a lot of ADD related stuff. But the struggle itself is not overwhelming. I let the med do some of the work, and I do the rest. So I get to still be a bit hyper and not "too calm" as my neice put it.  Maybe ask the Dr. if a slightly reduced dose might let you keep your "spark" yet still help you with your other unwanted ADD tendencies?

PS: I had to edit this because I misread that you had just started the adderal instead of being on it for a year. oops... this is what happens when I'm on my own med vacation..

kibbles00238715.6737615741I had troubles comming off of adderall (a year) recentely.... if you decide to which if it is helping school then I would wait until summmer or something... but if you DO decide to get off of this, tell your docter or Phyc. to wean you off as slowly as possible. AND DO NOT let them wean you off faster then what you feel would be comforatable. They are experts, but you know your   own body.
