If I am not mistaken, Concerta is a refinement of the same base drug that Ritalin is made from. And I think it is one that has been around and prescribed for a very long time before it was even used for ADD. I believe it has been around since the 1940s.
So the effects and side-effects are pretty well known.
Oh NO chance of me taking him off !!!!
I think it's just lack of info that bothers me. It's a mother thing to worry.
Thanks for your reply.
None that I know of. It's a pretty clean drug. He will be fine. By the time he gets 18 there will be even better medications available with less side effects. For his sake, don't let your fears make the decision to take him off. My mother took me off because of her fears, and my life as a adolescent was a living hell.I've posted this under ADHD Medications and didn't get any response, so I thought I'd try here.
I've been looking for any research on any long term effects from taking Concerta .
My son has been on meds for a few years now. I'm just wondering what kind (if any) health concerns he could be looking at later in life ?
I know that his life is now so much better, but I've been worrying lately that there maybe some long term problems that I'm not aware of
If anyone can help I sure would appreciate it.
