Question about Concerta | ADHD Information

Citric acid/grapefruit juice can interfer with stimulant effectiveness. Perhaps its something like that. DS used to take Concerta and I do remember sometimes (rarely) I'd have to ask him if he took his medicine. Some days are just like that. It may have happened on other stimulants as well. I just figured that his chemical balance is just off that day. The appeareance of being non-medicated would usually wear off after a few hours. He also got overdose symptoms twice on newly filled prescriptions. My son has been on Concerta for 4 months, and for the past month and a half something really odd is happening. It's like some days the meds work... and other days they don't.

Has anyone got a clue why this is happening? I watch him take his med and make sure that it is not back in the cup... so I know he is taking it everyday.

Are you still having this problem or any other?  My son has been on Concerta 36 mg for about 4 to 5 months now and I see the same with him.  Also he has developed an eye blinking problem that his dr doesn't believe is the meds but I do.  He never did this before the med change.  He was on Adderall 20 mg for about 2 yrs.  My son just turned 8 yrs.

interesting to keep in mind, my daughter just began concerta 1 week ago.

Hi, My son has been on concerta for4 months. This is finnaly the one that seems to work for him after tying 3 different meds. Ifind  the same thing I wonder if he is taking it. I have realized that when this happens he needs a break from it. I don't give it to him 1 day on the weekend and it seems to help. I have tied going the whole weekend but after 2 days he asked me if he could take it because he felt "crazy" those we're his words. Anyway now we only go 1 day off and6 days on. I do however give it to him if he has something important to do where he has to be calmer and more focused.

I hope this helps!
