all this is new to me....can u help??hi i hope this font is better sorry about that yesterday LOL (being a rookie at this and all) p.s. does this sound like adhd/add ?????? your font is very small. i was able to read it, but can you increase the size for my tired eyes? (lol) My advice is to be prepared. Get the teachers to write out the things they see in school that can devolve into problems (if you want the school to know, that's totally up to you. i have the school working w/ my ds and it is a team effort) Also, make a log of all the lack of sleep, if any. his eating habits and a food diary (that will give a good pic of his food intake for any allegories). also log any mood swings, ticks or temper issues he may have. if you go in with your guns loaded (so to speak), you will get the right help faster. Start a question log too. any thing you might wonder about, strange behaviors (like if you are adhd and what kind of mental illness's run in the family {if any} and what meds you took while you were pg w/ him {if any}. Also, ask the dr in advance if you can get the paper work you need to fill out on his history, so you will have time to think long and hard and not be rushed in the office. Most have them to be picked up or emailed and faxed too. You also will want to ask the doctor about how he/she handles refills and if they do mail in 3 months at a time after the proper med doses are established. And how he deals with problems out side of business hours. Who takes his calls. I hope this helps. And WELCOME to the board!!! It's common for children with ADD to lack concentration yet be so engrossed in video games for hours on end. If he's having a hard time focussing, try elliminating the distractions. Talk with his teacher and see what she can do for him. She may need to rearrange his seating. You may want to explain more specifics so we're able to offer more suggestions for you. You may also want to check out the "Alternatives.." forum. It's flooded with ideas that may help for your child. Best of luck and welcome aboard. i have a 6 yr old son who is waiting to be assessed by a psychologist in Feb. and i am not sure what to expect from this process. he is a very loving boy but lacks in attention span can't keep focused for any length of time to do school related work but is fine when he is playing video games........i literally have to yell and scream to get his attention when he is doing something wrong (like annoying his 19 month old brother) LOL....i don't know how to get him to focus...........does anyone have any advice for me i'm so confused with this whole thing thanks so much |
