no trouble kaks - it's hard here too as Glen can be either.  Like Glen Campbell or Glenn Close LOL!!

I'm all male.  Trust me - english names are more confusing than ever.  They are used either way and if you haven't met it can be confusing for sure.  They even had a comedy on TV about a character called "Pat" who noone could tell if was male or female.  Very funny and I could see why there was confusion.

My babe is 6 months old.

I have postpartum depression and am going to get tested for AD/HD tomorrow, though I am 99.9999999% sure I have ad/hd, for I have been suspecting it since I was in middle school.

That is a great progress Glen.

I have never had the problem with eyecontact but to read between the lines is hard. I always make a fool out of myself trying :-(

I won't hesitate, thank you :-)

And oh sorry I have to ask :"-) but is Glen a male or female?
In sweden it is a males name but as I thought Chris was male I'll better ask this time :-}

I agree...AD/HD is often co-morbid with something else.

Also, many AD/HD meds can make certain things, like tics, worse.

I have anxiety and depression (from living over 50 years undiagnosed...not surprising!). The anxiety and depression are medicated with antidepressants. I also have mood disorder (whatever the heck that is) and am on Carbatrol (Tegratol) for that, and it helps most of the time. Actually, that is regulating my emotions, like anger. I also have Tourettes (since age 6 at least), and the antidepressant (high dosage) seems to help with that. I have taken Ritalin and Concerta for ADHD, but neither seem to help me much. :(

Good luck, Kaks!GypsyWomyn38728.557337963Glen:
What meds do you take?

Here you often hear that takeing, like Concerta makes the AS worse. I took Concerta for 5w but that was only and so many side-effects that my Dr took me of them. Now I take Amphetamine, I think it's the same as you call Dextroamphetamine and some of my AS issues are geting worse. Not so I can't live with them but it bothers me.

Have you or any one else any experience like this?

Most everyone here has ADHD with one of its' "comorbid" disorders.  That's typical and some are severe and others more a nuiscance.  I have Generalized Anxiety (GA) and mild Asperger's.  Both are helped by my ADHD being leveled out with meds and therapy.  I still feel anxious sometimes but hey don't we all?

You'd be hard pressed to find ADHD alone most times.  It's pretty common.

The only ADHD med I take is dexedrine sulphate spansules.  I take dicetel (occasionaly) for mild IBS.  Haven't in weeks.  Other than that sometimes I take flonase for allergies.

Most all side effects are gone or less during meds and even when off them for the first couple days.  I do still have general anxiety but have fought them and even date a little.  I still can't do meetings in cramped offices as that sets me off.  But if I have a good space around me most anything is safe for me to work with.  I don't feel much problems of any kind lately.  Of course the therapy helps!!

I'd bet the AS symptoms would be easier when you get your ADHD fully under control AND get CBT therapy to learn new coping skills.  I can look people in the eye almost all the time (very hard before), I get sarcasm and jokes and am friendly and outgoing! How's that for conquering my troubles!

Good luck to you - don't hesitate to PM or ask me anything ok?

Hi Kaks,

I was also dx'ed with an unspecified anxiety disorder and OCD "traits".  I was also dx'ed with depression at the same time as the ADHD.  That's under control now though.

I think most of us do have duel diagnoses or "comorbidity".  My daughter has ADD, PDD-NOS and some OCD traits as well.

What is LD? I think we have different abbreviations in english and swedish sometimes.

When I was youger I had a lot more AS than I have now, now it's more AD/HD but still I have some issues :-)

/Kaks
It sounds like everybody here have plain AD/HD or ADD. Is that so?

Most ppl I talk to in Sweden have more than one, like AD/HD and TS.

I, myself have AD/HD and AS.

Do you all have only one diagnosis or do you just don't talk about the other here?

/Kaks
Kaks38725.4403703704What is AS?AS = Asperger Syndrome.

It's a sort of high functional autism. I might add that it's like AD/HD, you can't tell from the outside if a person have AS, often unlike classic autism and Karners syndrome.

Problem with social skills, interaction with other ppl, special-interests, very sensitive senses, difficulies to read betwen the lines and so on. I don't have any good sites in english, but I try to find one that is short and easy to understand.

Any clearer? :-)

Hey Kaks -    Have 3 family members with AU, two are AS.  When I first joined this thread there was another member dx'd with AS.  Haven't seen her around lately.
AD/HD goes with AS & AU very often.  My husband, I am sure is AS, although he has never been officially dx'd.

My dx (so far, seems it keeps getting longer)  is AD/HD/ Anxiety Disorder/LD  I have lots of sensory issues too.   Feel free to discuss anything you want about AS.  I would love to hear it from an insider's viewpoint.
