Misdiagnosis | ADHD Information

30-50% of adults with ADHD have been misdiagnosed.  If you were surprised to be diagnosed with ADHD you might want to gain a second or third opinion on your condition.  Many people simply suffer from depression or inattention, which are seperate conditions and not labeled as ADD or ADHD

bugzappers, thanks for your comment.  I was recently diagnosed and after researching found that I have every classic syptom.  The comment above got me questioning myself.  Your message set me right back on course. Thanks!

where do you get the 50 percent number - I read the legitimate documents on ADHD all the time and it's way lower.  Please do your research.  And I always recommend that people don't depend on their family doctor for diagnosis as they haven't had as much education and experience in ADHD as a qualified psychiatrist.  That's the best way to go.

And to say "simply" suffer from a disorder is glib.  Please don't.

MIS DIAGNOSED??? NO... UN DIAGNOSED..... We do get later dx-ed for underlaying problems over 50% of the time...

WHY?
Because adhd does not travel alone in 60% or more of the adhd cases studied.

So 50% or more have adhd, and SOMETHING ELSE to go with it. adhd with depression, adhd with inattention, adhd with co morbid. etc.

I just want to know, if it is so simple, why is it so hard to dx and find the medication to limit the problems? I guess it is not so simple.

Adhd is a condition your BORN WITH, NOT A CHOICE.

Spreading lies and fear is a choice.
