Meds don’t work for me ? | ADHD Information

Share

Has anyone around you noticed a difference? When I first took Lexapro I didn't see any changes but everyone else did. They all commented on how I seemed to be in a much better mood and more positive. I honestly had no idea what they were talking about!

Have you tried lots of exercise? Change in diet? Exercise has helped me tremendously and if all else fails, remeber there are alternatives. ADD coaching didn't help me but it's been known to help others.

Lots of meds need time to work, and they work in small increments at that.   It sounds to me like they are changing drugs too soon (but that is my ignorant opinion).  They have to build in your system.  Like Cheeky said,  maybe you need a second opinion.

I finally figured out what was wrong with me (ADHD) and now nothing seems to help. I almost think I was better off not knowing for 42 years.  I have tried Stattera for 6 weeks , then Adderall XR for about 6 weeks and now on Ritalin LA for over a month. The Dr. just keeps upping the dosage. I am now at 120mg once a day and feel no affect. He even told me the max dose is 60mg a day of Ritalin LA , so I don't know whats going on in my head, Oh yea , about 12 different things like usual.

I don't know if I will ever be right, it has affected everthing in my life as I look back on it now with the info I have learned. I don't think I ever finished one thing without doing 3 more in the process.

I hate taking meds for anything (that don't work anyway) and now I 'm doing just that. I just want to see life like everbody else, one page at a time. I don't know if this makes sense, but thats me. If I  re read it I won't know what I read anyway. What was I going to do now???

Any ideas or help ?

Maybe you've been misdiagnosed. Or maybe you haven't found the right dosage or combination? If you can afford it, I would get a second opinion. Especially if you're being treated by just a general physician. I think that is the lease desirable way to be treated for ADHD but it's what most people do because it's what they can afford.

I don't think it is misdiagnosed.  It is just like  when I read some of these post ,I have to stop and think  DID I POST THAT.  Or is someone reading my mind (GOOD LUCK) . After much reading about ADHD I now realize my Dad  also has  had it all his life and that is probably why we have never got along.

I have not seen a general physician, just a psychiatric. And now he is sending me to a "specialist". I know what you mean about the right dosage or combination, it takes time. I have always had little or no affect with any meds for even pain, therefore I don't take any until now. I told the Doc that I don't usually get results from any meds for anything until they give me a high enough dosage to either Kill me or cure me.  And I have been on very high dosage of  Straterra, Adderal XR and now Ritalin LA (120mg in the morning) for 4 months now. Not all at once though, but its a thought. (just kidding)

Confused and looking for answers??
