please help! marijuana and ADD | ADHD Information

Share
Hey everyone I was wondering if you could please help me out, I am freaking out right now. The other night I tried marijuana and I have never drank alcohol or used and other mind altering substance so this was a new thing.  I am only 17 and was diagnosed with ADD (inattentive type) back in march and was then later diagnosed with depression/anxiety in back in october and was prescribed lexapro. After many trial and error runs with different adhd medications I finally found one that worked amazing, Adderall.  However since everything  has been going so great lately I figured why not, and I decided I would try marijuana with my friend.  That night I became extremely intoxicated and dont even remember most of the nigh.  The climax of the drug lasted from 12am-3am which is when I fell asleep.  The next morning I awoke and felt extremely dulled out and spacey and I took my medication (60mg Adderall and 30mg Lexapro) and continued to feel this way throughout the whole day.  I couldnt concentrate and my memory was totally shot and I felt very sedated and kept getting a numbness in my legs which is how i felt when I was high.

It is now monday and i feel slightly better but I still feel very anxious and still feel spacey, unable to concentrate and my short term memory is still shot. I am worried the Adderall may not work now and I wont be able to go back to how I was a few weeks ago when I finally got the right dose right and everything was going good.  I feel the Adderall right now is only easing my anxiety and it keeps giving me random spurts energy where I feel very speedy and get the urge that I must do something.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would please help me.
Thanks alot for the advice. I am finally back to feeling normal again today. I definitaly wont be doing that again.                    Glad to hear you're chipper againhaha Glen, we said about the same thing...I was writing my post when you must have posted yours, so we've got a bit of overlap in our info...I suppose it won't hurt though

Well friend - consider yourself soundly spanked by reality!! I want to feel bad for you but - as the councillor says on South Park "Drugs are bad - m'kay?".

THC - the active ingredient in marijuana has a half-life of about 30 days - maybe higher.  It gets stored in body fat and that's why drug testing for THC is able to catch you long after that inhale you did at a party.  LONG after.

Don't worry - the effects should die off soon.  But it's a good wake-up call for you.  Pot is stupid - I thought that kids of your era were considered the "smart generation"?  LOL - well that's enough of me admonishing you I think you see it really doesn't help you and your troubles.

Your meds should kick back in soon.  It's not a permanent change you are feeling - just a sort of hangover.  It will pass.

Try to eat well, drink lots of water and stick to legit meds for a good feeling inside.  And remember that even if a friend hands you a joint you have no idea if it's laced with something very serious (and neither does your friend) so there could be serious damage from even one joint.

Good luck to you sir - you are getting a chance to stop ADHD early and don't blow it.

Well, I could be wrong, but it sounds like the marijuana experience was one that you won't repeat...(That was my way of advising not to do it again because you've obviously seen the way it adversely affects you).

My advice to you is:

relax-- getting your panties into a twist over this will surely only make the matter worse, making it harder to concentrate, and causing you to experience a self-fulfilling prophesy (a.k.a. you'll imagine your symptoms and therefore actually experience them) drink plenty of water & get in your basic nutrients--these are essentials and will help your body rid itself of toxins and will keep your system up to par get enough sleep--it's amazing how much better it can make you feel and how much clearer your cognitive abilities will be skip your meds for a day or two (or just lower the dose for awhile) and then see how things are going back to your usual dose

Yes, weed affects you--for a few days. No, you're not gonna die (at least not from the weed). Take care and feel free to post any more concerns or you can pm me if ya want.
