I read a book a while back about the hunter/farmer theory. Among other things, the book implies that people without add actually prefer and enjoy the mundane activities.
My opinion is that people without add also dislike those activities although they might be easier for them then us.
I believed this theory for a while and, armed with the theory, had a very bad experience interacting with the farmers of the world who also absolutely DISLIKED doing the mundane.
I was also approached by someone with add who assumed I didn't have it - and he explained that I would probably enjoy doing some of his mundane work because I was wired differently from people like him - which really annoyed me.
It was a useful learning experience because I could see how useless assumptions can be. Also, it seemed obvious when he approached me that he should have come offering to trade one unpleasant activity for another unpleasant activity, etc., rather than assuming that someone else would want to do all of the drudge work in exchange for the fun stuff.
I think some of these books try to really make broad labels to sell to the masses but can actually hurt people if they rely on the theories. That's just my opinion and I wonder what others think.
