First off, make sure you're not consuming anything that is acidic or that has a tendency to increase the acidity in your stomach; as this inhibits the absorption of adderall (yes, this does severely limit your diet...but only during the day. You can eat whatever you want at night).
Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep. If you're not rested, it won't matter how much adderall you take, it still "won't work."
Eating and nutrition are also vital. If you're not feeding your body the necessary nutrients, it won't function the way it should be. So make sure you're getting in enough of all of your vitamins and minerals and make sure you're eating regularly.
Citrus/caffeine lessons absorbtion rates.
I was wondering why some days I feel that the adderall is working great and other days I feel it doing nothing. I take 60mg of instant release in the morning then 20mg more in the after noon around 2pm. I dont think people generally take more than what I am taking now but I feel as if somedays it does absolutly nothing.
How long have you been taking adderall?? I'm more a pro on dexedrine sulfate but 60mg seems to me to be a strong dose if you are starting there. In my dex - 60 is about as high as they go. If you started high then you'd be likely to suffer extremes in highs and lows as the meds surge you up then drop you hard. Do check on that as adderall is typically mild when started at the lowest doses and worked up slowly - talking months to up a few mgs at a time.
Also think about asking to try dexedrine spansules. Firstly they are very cheap. Also they last up to 12 hours and I don't ever need the booster - if my day is going to last over 12 hours with focus I take a second dose about 6 to 7 hours in and it carries me through up to 18 full hours. A very decent med and very few side effects.
I read somewhere that if one is to ingest Adderall with water mixed with baking soda this will help the body to absorb more of the med and keep it in the system longer? Anyone else hear of this? Jimmy4th38738.4502546296 That is preposterous.

Very good advise, I take my medicine 1 hour after the acidic morning juice.
Glen - question for you - you may have mentioned this somewhere else but I don't remember....
What is the difference between Adderall and the dexedrine spansules? I take regular generic Adderall 30 mg a day and it works fine, it's just my ins. co. doesn't pay for it, so I pay for the generic and split the pills to divide the dose throughout the day. So bottom line - I'm wondering about the difference in the medication and the cost difference, if you know. If I need to increase my Adderall dose I will have to pay double because the regular doesn't come in higher dosages than 30 mg. If I went up to 35 mg a day, I would have to pay for 60 pills instead of 30 if that makes sense. Can you give me any feedback on this? Thanks O wise one.
sassee -
adderall is a mix of dexedrine in what they call salts - one of them is dexedrine saccharate. Dexedrine is what is dextroamphetamine sulphate - a whole different carrier of the dextroamphetamine. It carries the med in a slightly different way through the body.
The spansules I take are in 10mg capsules. They are time released and for me they work full blast about 6 hours and wane in 9. I can push it to 12 but you feel the pull of ADHD by then.
I find that my dex works just as well or better than what is described to me about adderall. It's cheap and lasts long enough for me during the longest days. My medical insurance covers 80 percent of it and it ends up about 20 a month for 2 20mg doses a day. That works fine when I take my med vacation I always mention.
I highly recommend before you need to up the dose you see if you can find a week (even 4 days) where you can tuck in at home and stay off it. Then when you come back on I find it works better and more like when I started my first time. I have been on 20mg now since last feb or march. I don't see me having to up it now for a while but there are days where I drift again so maybe. But even 30mg is cheaper so it's not a big concern.
Dexedrine should be covered by most of the med plans. The only ones my plan won't cover for ADHD is strattera or Concerta. All others seem open to them but they specify generic first. No biggie.
Oh wise one eh? Wiser than I was so ok.
Thanks
I'm actually pretty happy with the Adderall and the dose at the moment but my ins. apparently will not pay for ANY of the stimulant meds....
I just wanted to know while I was thinking of it because later I will forget and I want to have the info for future reference.
