Can you cut back your second dose? Maybe it is the second dose giving you sleep problems as it is not quite out of your system yet. Just a suggestion, I figure maybe if you get that good nights sleep then bring that dose back in at the smallest mgs first, let your body adjust, then the 20 if you need it.
Just a suggestion. i am not on adderall but was told with my methylphenidate that I would know it was too much medicine if I couldnt sleep at night. ( I have never had insomnia unless there was something major going on. -- when I was seeking diagnosis for ADD, I didnt sleep for weeks!)
Check with Doc of course cause I certainly do not have a medical degree!!

ive been on adderal xr for little over a week. 20mgs in the morning & 10-20mgs around 9-11am. last few days by the time i come home from work i am BEAT. my body feels really tired. i'll turn in early, BUT will toss and turn for 3 hours. leaving me with only 4-5 hrs of sleep. i've had this problem for last couple days straight which in turn make me feel zoned out/zombie like and makes my meds not effective in the way they should.
will this go away?!?!?!?!? it makes me feel like not taking the meds is better than this zombie/strung out feeling. i just feel like a strunged out zombie. :(
when i'm fully rested and take my meds i feel GREAT. like superwoman. ahhh!
has anyone found meds that arent so sleep distrubing?

stimulants aren't based upon a person's weight (although they do have recommended max mg/kg of body weight). Also, I know for a fact that adderall is at least tested up to 60mg. I don't know if they've done studies over that mg and I don't really have the time to check right now, but I thought I'd let you know that.
Have a great day!

That is a LOT of medicine to start out on. I am a 200 lb. man and I take 20mg of XR 1/day. The side affects do go away with time but still that is a lot of medicine to start on. Aderall is not even tested at over 30mg/day so there is no studied results of side affects, possible dangers etc. above 30mg/day. The follwing link might be useful to you and your doctor http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/adderallxr_ids.htm
I take 10 mg of xr. ONCE a day. At 7am. By 10 pm. I am tired.I can say that it can lead to insomnia at first. I moved my meds farther from sleep time and it helped. I also made sure I had plenty of activity during the day. If not - I reduced my meds as I find that when working and thinking a lot I need full dose and when with friends and just relaxing I half it. Works for me!
Most side effects will go away in about 30 days of taking the meds. If not I'd ask the MD if maybe dropping the dosage could be best. Trying lowest dose and moving up seems logical to me but many docs seem to think the other way. I don't get that but they are docs and I'm not!
When is "morning"? I'm assuming you mean 9 to 10 PM as that makes more sense. That's far too late in the day. If you take first dose at 7 or 8 then if you are 9 to 5 for work they'll be working full blast by then. A second dose I'd not recommend of an extended release after 3 or 4 as that certainly would keep you up. Check back with doc and see if a mistake on dosing has been made.
