Hey Guys....After 3 months on Adderall (currently 30mg immed rel)..I have noticed that I now grind my teeth. Though it doesn't seem too severe at this point I am going to ask my dentist about any damage.
I am trying determine if this is a side-effect of the med or a symptom of withdrawal. The withdrawal theory is due to the fact that my last dose is usually about 5-6pm and I am definately grinding teeth in bed and when I wake the next morning. I also notice grinding at certain times during the day...quite possible those nasty periods when one dose wears off and the next dose hasn't quite kicked in yet.
This is a big concern for me...I have tiny irish teeth and some expensive veneers in the front. I also deal with "meth heads" and "tina queens"(sorry...thats what they are called) at my pharmacy and many of them have rotting teeth....That can't just be from grinding...there must be vasoconstriction or some other effect causing that degree of damage.
As a pharmacist, I am amazed that though amphetamines have been around forever there really isn't alot of concrete info about side effects and toxicities in the professional literature. Any feedback?
geez louise. thats my feedback
no seriously
my coworker , upon finding out yesterday that i take adderall made the remark:
"aren't you worried about your teeth' i was suprised b/c i've never even heard of that. he had apparently seen plenty of meth head rotting teeth as well. hell i don't need that sh*te.
but yes i concure apoth person. i am grinding quite a bit these days , i'm on 20mg adderall XR in the morning and my doc just put me on 10 mg of immediate release adderall for the afternoons b/c i'm crashing so badly at the end of my attention expensive work day.
my grinding always happens in my sleep as well too. i never considered that it might be a withdrawal thing. my jaw hurts when i wake some mornings.
i'm spent today. this week has wasted me. i hate my customers!!! i'm on the phone all day with them including right now and i'm pissed. i'm in a rank mood.
can't even use attention for the boards right now...
sorry
sumi
If Adderal is working for you guys, why don't you go to your dentist
