Good! Now make sure when going to a second one that you get references that this one has experience with adult ADHD!!! Very important as we are an odd bunch and take experience to get to know and figure out. That's just as important as the meds believe me!
Just know that when you find the right combo it begins to snap into place. I have dates, smile a lot and enjoy life. I remember things and don't obsess either.
Good luck!
Also, remember this may not be adult ADHD. If the stims are making you "high" it is unlikely that it's ADHD at all. Stims make everyone more productive. College kids take them during exam nights. Housewives get re-energized. It's the "high" that bothers me. I hope your Psychiatrist knows about mood disorders as well as ADHD. Good luck.As someone with bipolar, you just explained hypomania to a "T." I'd definitely talk to my doctor about it. It can develop into full blown psychotic mania and then you'll be in bigger trouble and in the hospital. People with mood disorders should not take Adderrall or any sort of stimulant. It makes you worse, not better. I had a similar reaction to Ritalin and quit taking it. Everyone who experiences this "high" likes it. I'm wondering if the med isn't getting you off, which can be dangerous and lead to potential abuse. Dude, I'd see a doctor as soon as possible or you may be asking for more problems than you already have. I felt great on the Ritalin until I crashed and then it was bad news.psm090438741.2896296296adderall is dextroamphetamine. It's common to get an "artificial sense of well-being" as said in the literature. It's short lived as you noticed and eventually calms down considerably. Although as psm says it may be bipolar in the way it is I don't think so as usually adderall taken by a bipolar shows signs of mood swings and/or agression from what I see in comments about it.
60mg is awfully high. Perhaps the doc got impatient when you found lulls in the effectiveness and jumped the gun.
I'd recommend you get a referral to a pro in ADHD in psychiatry. At least once so you can get a diagnosis and see if those meds aren't way too high a dose for you.
I take med vacations every couple months and that keeps my dose down but effective. I have been at 20mg of dexedrine spansules since last spring and haven't had to up it even though I have an Rx for 30mg just in case. It works just fine and I rarely get the euphoria unless I take my meds too close to each other or forget to eat enough or drink enough water. Usually its a non-issue.
Just get a second opinion. I worry about a doctor who is too eager to up a med without giving at least a couple of months to see if you level out.
When the med is working 100 percent over time you'll feel the control without the rush. That's what is intended so when you feel the drop in energy that may have been the getting used to it time.
Do check out all possibilities - but don't worry too much about it unless it increases anxiety at that time.

Uhh that's ONE of the ingredients in Adderall, it's a cocktail of four types of amphetamines. If you're gonna play doctor watch your facts

Yeah dude, caffeine and adderall may not be a great mix considering the amount of stimulant subtypes that are already a part of adderall....adding a 5th might throw the balance off somehow, you should look into that. I can tell you it's a terrible mix with dexedrine in my experience..., not unlike what kibbles says.
I have a couple of questions for you, how old are you, how long have you been on adderall, have you taken other stimulants, and what is your body build and weight? I know it s a lot of questions but it sounds very similar to something I have been trying to figure out for years with many doctors with no luck...or at least not yet. If it’s the same as what I have experienced, it’s not really a typical drug "high", but it is a VERY nice feeling due to a sense of heightened well being and mental clarity.
