Avoiding the Crash | ADHD Information

I take 60mg of Adderall instant release every morning then another 20 in the afternoon.  I cant fall asleep at night and usually get 3-4 hours wake up and take my meds and it wakes me up and I feel fine the whole day.  After about a week of this I notice the Adderall no longer helps me with concentration and focus but is only waking me up and keeping me alert all day. And about every two weeks I crash and have to stay home a day from school and sleep roughly 14-16 hours and I wont take the Adderall that day.  The next day I will take the Adderall like I usually do in the morning before school and it will work great and will continue to do so for the next week then it will do the same thing until I have a crash day.  Its a cycle I cant seem to break.

What should I do?  I dont want to get off of Adderall its the only medicine that works for me meaning its the only medicine that gives me any effect.  I have already tried strattera and concerta and they did nothing.

Any suggestions?  Does this happen to anyone else out there?

Thats exactly what happens to me...I am learning to plan for it, my wife can see it coming so she just leaves me right were I have crashed and covers me with a blanket...lights out and knows I will be starving when I wake up and going 90mph for about 4 more days. I think our system just needs the rest anyway to get the most out of the meds...I'm sure you have noticed not alot of folks are taking high doses so it might be hard for them to understand...I currently can take up to 60mg Adderall xr & 60 mg of Ritalin starting the day after "my crash" and adjust down from there...by day 4 it would just be a waste of money to take the same as day1...this cycle works for me I...I'm not complaining. It just doesn't work for me to take the same dose day after day, they couldn't make enough of it at that pace
