Hi, I'm new here but thought I could add some info here.
I have been taking Lamictal ( & Neurontin) for 6 months now, 150 mg. I started taking it once a day, in the evening and my psych told me that I probably wasn't getting the sleep that I needed (after I told him I felt drained after a full night of sleep). He explained that taking Lamictal at night can cause you not to go into the REM sleep that you need.
So, I started taking it in the morning. About a month ago, I realized that I had a consistant pattern of getting in a REALLY bad mood when it started wearing off for me (by 3:00 p.m.). So, he has me splitting my pills with 75 mg in the a.m. and 75 mg in the afternoon. (This was all before being diagnosised with ADD and being put on Adderall also)
It did wonders for my depression, along with Neurontin (3x a day).
Lelu38747.412349537i've been taking Lamictol for about 2 years now. it works well for depression. I don't have bipolor but do have anxiety/depression. i give it a 70%. i ended up needing to take other meds too. everyone's different though.
I was wandering if anyone has had any experience with Lamictal. The Psychiatrist just prescribed it for my 21 year old daughter that has ADHD plus some depression. The doctor is having her take holiday breaks from the Adderall XR because of tremendous weight loss, but I am just not sure of this drug (lamictal) I have never heard of. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
My son takes it. It's a bipolar med and has nothing to do with ADHD, so I"m thinking that the psychiatrist is testing to see if she actually has a mood disorder rather than ADHD. It's a very good mood stabilizer with miminal side effects. My son had a severe allergic reaction to lamictal. He ended up in the emergency room, severly swollen. They were able to counter act the effect though. He is better now.
