sleep aids w/ adderal xr ok? | ADHD Information

anyone know if those over the counter sleep aids are okay to take while on adderal?

Ask your dr.

 Call them up or ask an emergency room dr. or maybe call your pharmacist.

 I know people use melatonin. but that has come under fire lately.

 Let us know what you find out.

I am currently taking a sleepaid with Adderall XR. It is called Restoril (temazepam). My doctor said it is often given to the elderly. The starting dose is at 7.5mg. It is only a short- term aid and should not be taken longer then a few weeks. When I read about this it said that once or twice might be enough to get back the sleeping habbit again. Heck, what are they talking about. This Adderal is like drinking Coffee before you go to bed.....lol. I really don't think that untill we get use to the meds will we see a change in our sleeping habbit. I am on One dosage of Adderall 30mg in the morning and then take the sleeping pill before i go to bed. I can tell you that Iam still up all night. The affects from the stimulant don't touch the sleeping pill!!! SO.......I understand your pain. Atleast look into the Restoril and maybe it will work different for you.       Good Luck getting your ZZZZZZZ's

I don't think an individual should rely on a sleeping aid to get sleep.  If you're unable to sleep due to a stimulant, then you should lower the dosage.  It's not good at all to be dependent on a sleeping aid. Johnnyboi38742.9518055556

bought that sleep aid made by Tyloneol. Pharmacist said its fine to take with adderal xr. no chemical mix ups.

hopefully i can get some solid shut eye for my body needs it.

Best to check with your doctor.  They should know of good ones.

As bugz says melatonin is considered very good for occasional sleeplessness.  Seems to set your body clock to night when it doesn't do it for itself.  Seems safe as it's been on the shelf for ages.  I have not as bugz has seen any negative publicity but he's pretty much on the ball so you may want to check on it.
