concerta vs adderall xr for sustained?

i'm just starting with adderall xr and it's the first med i've ever been on amphetamine style legal or illegally.  I allready kinda dont' like it and I haven't even really hit a dose that seems to work (if it ever will?).  I def. can't stand the ups and downs and the unexpected comming of both. I take it and dunno when i will start to feel it ESPECIALLY if i just ate. (it takes over an hour. no dice). Then it hits and wears down the hits and wears down and crash crash boom. I allready go up and down enough as it is and I worry anxiety style about a lot of stuff, and I feel the worse I ever do comming off this. I dont' think it's worth it.

I've been taking 20mg and I kinda feel it. I just seem more slow down, but overall pretty uninterested in things. It doesn't feel like enough i'm gonna try 30 tommorow. I really don't like the feeling i get of bein kinda hollow. I'm pretty much over the "i'm gonna sit back and waste my life away and not deal with anything" because i hate that and it's pretty worthless. I know i can do a lot more, but this adderall kinda makes me able to do it but not really interested in doing much of anything. Just makes me grateful to be slow.

my sleep schedule is real off due to a lot of things. like i slept 3pm-9pm yesterday and now i'm about to crash i think. My job and some other stuff I gotta take care of right now makes it hard to deal with taking a 10 hour+ lasting drug of ups and downs. If nothing else i think i'd rather take the regular adderall because it's easier to control.

From what I read about concerta it just kinda leaks outta the capsule at a "slow drip" style for a pretty even dose all day long.  Seems a lot less harsh and overall more enjoyable. From what i've heard it's pretty expensive even with good insurance coverage.

Anyway any feedback is a +

but i'm off to eat some pizzaaaaaaaa. mmmm.

Hi Itsyouhere, getting the right meds is kinda trial & error. Alot of error for me! I was given a script for 1 mo. free supply of addarall RX 30mg, just to try it. I found that I get a "rush" than comes the let down, usually just when I need to concentrate. Thats when I feel like my brain is moving in slow motion and loose interest in no matter what I'm doing. My usual dose of regular adderall is 20mg 3 times a day. Ask your doc about the regular, b/c you definetly have more control.

My sleep schedual I've pretty much given up on. I've had insomnia for as long as I can remember I take Ambian for that. I have asked about Concerta, and I came to find out that my ins. won't cover it at all! BUMMER, b/c I really wanted to try it. I've heard that even ppl who don't do well with the once a day meds, have good results w/concerta. I've also been told that certain ins. plans won't cover it unless your under 18. I believe I read that on one of these posts, and they we're from Canada. I think the U.S is starting to recognize ADD/ADHD as a disorder that carries into adulthood. (it's about time). GOOD LUCK with whatever you decied to try. And you said you were off to eat some pizza? mmm, I'll be right over!

yeah. i really don't see adderall xr working for me. Concerta would probably be my best bet for once a day.

i only had a weeks supply (30 10mg XR) to start off with. and the psychiatrist said to start with 10 and go up from there.

but i haven't even been taking it everyday because i wake up and go "allright. if i take it now i'll have to deal with the comedown around this time... and i can't really do that today" haha. it's just too unpredictable especially with how it kicks in once lets you down then kicks back in.

i'd rather just snort it up so i can get it all at once, but it doesn't last long enough and i get too much at once. i really don't want to abuse this either. i go too fast as it is. why go even faster?

go back thursday. this psychiatrist is one of the ones who actually does "talk therapy" so to speak in addition to writing out scripts. so hopefully it turnso ut okay. I like him better than I like anyone i've been too so far.
