Even thought about your tax return yet? | ADHD Information

No that is what I have a husband for.

Yes, I have thought about it but only because I got my W-2s in the mail and because when I signed onto school (I go to an online university--Capella) they had a notice on the home page about education deductions.

That piqued my interest and I even took the link to the IRS directions about educational deductions. They may as well have been written in Urdu! (Why in the world can't the IRS manage to explain things in a way that people can understand? I'm pretty smart [if I do say so myself] and still can't make heads nor tails of them!)

I may have to go to a tax person, even though I can't afford it because I need to claim deductions for medical expenses and school expenses; I need every deduction I can get. Both are so complicated, don't think I can figure it out on my own. I'm not even sure I'll qualify for either. (That would be great--pay someone to tell me I can't get more deductions than I could have figured out for myself!)

I have a student loan for school but is it a "Pell grant" and can I deduct it or not? I have absolutely no idea! The instructions said you cannot deduct room and board or travel but I go to an online school and we're required to attend 3 colloquia--many of which are out of town. You mean I can't deduct my travel-related expenses for going to it? Or my books? That's BS! (Since I'm officially employed, might I legitimately deduct my books as a "professional development" expense?) This stuff is waaaay too complicated for me to figure out!

"Earned income credit"--what the heck is that?

sachetm38753.406087963I thought about doing my taxes, then I forgot, then I thought about it while I was brushing my teeth, then I forgot--- stay tuned for April 15th! I just got my W2 in the mail today.  I do it myself and file it electronically too (well for the past 2 years).  I scheduled time on my planner to do it Tuesday next week.

I got all of my stuff ready just need to drop it off.  My tax man is on vacation this week so it will have to wait till next week.

Cross your fingers i don't have to pay this year.

No, not time to file for an extension yet.   I hate tax time.  We always have to pay in thousands.

I have never filed my tax return in February before!  I did it today.  I usually do it on April 15th and am running to the post office that night!  Or I file an extension.  Or I just file late and pay fines for filing late without an extension.

I filed my taxes today! electronically!  I can only give credit to the crawling exercises I have been doing.

How about you guys?  Have you filed yours or have you not even thought about it yet?

HECK YEH!! I have already gotten it back. ONLY becuz i get an Earned Income Credit which is usually close to 00. yeh, so that was written in BOLD in my notebook of things to do i carry around everywhere!!!

christi

i have filed with turbo tax ever since i was 18.  I usualy just do the online instead of buying the software.   I do it the second i get my W2 So i did mine like 2 weeks ago.  Im supposed to get my refund today! YAY!!  I feel i treat it like i should anything else that is important and to not let my add get in the way forgetting to take care of it. Thats why i do it as soon as its in my hand.

I'm still waiting for my T-4 (our income statement up north heah LOL).  Once I get it I'm filing right away.  I'm not expecting to get to keep my return cash (usually about 5 to 600 bucks) - it's going to hopefully pay the LAST payment to the Federal government to clear my old business debt for unpaid Goods/Services Tax.  I hope so - it's been 5 years of paying and paying.  They told me it was a little over 600 bucks so if my return is that then I may have to pay just a bit in interest and penalties.  Not much.

Boy a debt-free me.  That sounds good!
