I
was also diagnosed extremely late in my life, and buy the time i was
diagnosed i had already aquired a multiple drug-habit. Taking your
medication (if you truly are add) is one of the most importent thing's
in your life,so you have to find some self-control.It's hard, belive me
if aanybody know's I do.But it's very importent it will keep you off
all those street drug's.Wich will kill you, or make you kill yourself.
Figure it out man,If you feel like you have to take more then you are suppose to take, then work and work
at getting youre dose incresed, that's what i had to do.I belive the
F.D.A limit is like 40 m.g. of adderol a day, the docter ended up ( in
the end ) prescribing me 60 m.g. of adderol x.r. at once in the morning,
and I never needed to take any more than that. figure it out man. It's your life.
do you want it for worse? or better?
My husband is a recovering addict as well and began treatment for his ADD after a year of sobriety. I would really like to know how you abused your adderall, from my research of therapeutic doses, I do not see how it is possible unless you had an unlimited prescription or were buying it off someone. My husband is on Adderall and doing quite well, I believe his dose was just changed to 2 15 mg (LA) in the AM and 1 15 mg at about lunch time (again LA). Have you looked into the time release adderall or concerta, not easy to abuse because they don't give the whole dose right away. You really do have to take gobs of the medicine if you are truly ADD to get any type of "high" effect, like I said, based on my research. I do realize body chemistry and PK/PD are different for different people, though. My husband is very content with his doses of meds, except that they do not last the entire day. He is busy with school and work from dawn to night time and really needed longer coverage. He spoke witha psychiatrist who came up with a different regime, seems to be working fine.
Congrats to your 16 months! Are you working a program? That might help with the abuse issues.
Just my
.02Hi everyone. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD till 24 yrs old. By this time I developed a major drug problem. My psychiatrists prescribed adderall. I abused it. I think I did just because I new that I could. Anyway, I have been clean from all drugs and alcohol for 16 months. I have been on Straterra for this time period. While it seems to help with my impulsiveness and losing items (key, wallet etc) I am not sure that it helps with overall attention span when doing math, reading or chemistry. I'm wondering if there are any other ADHD drugs out there that I will not abuse. Focalin, Ritalin etc. My doctor only gives me a months worth at a time so I cant abuse it. Well i can but then I've got nothing until I see her the next month. It seems to be working for me up to now. I had to fight with the doc to even get meds as a result of my drug abuse. Im off everything other than my meds now. Maybe you could organise something like Ive got going with your doctor? Thanks, I will look into that. If you don't mind, which meds are you on and do you feel that they help?
