cheesecake | ADHD Information
Did that get your attention? I love cheesecake!! LOL
Ok seriously, yesterday, someone brought cheesecake to work to celebrate a birthday. I usually take my 2nd dose of metadate just before lunch. cheescake got eaten 30 minutes after that dose.
the rest of the day went ok, but meds didnt seem to work quite as well.
At the end of the day, around 4, I was grading papers and ended up screwing up the whole pile -- kind of like I used to do before meds.. It was so bad that I had to think to remember if maybe I had forgotton my second dose!!! But no, I did take it.
So, question: I thought that fatty foods affected absorption rate of methyphenidate from what I have read here. But I thought you still got the medicine just not as quickly.. Was I wrong in that assumption?
Do fatty foods cause the medicine to be less effective overall? Or did I just have a bad ADD day?

Some cheese cake is made with citrus as a flavoring. Citrus should never be taken within an hour either way of meds as it reduces the effecacy of them. It doesn't seem like there would be enough in it to make that much difference, but possibly that combined with the fats would account for it.I love cheesecake too kibbles! BTW, I thought the citrus was a problem with adderall interaction but not for methylphenidate.. is that correct? or does citrus affect both?

Yep.. LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEE Cheesecake.. and chocolate and brownies.. and .. oh no wonder why I never lost any weight!! appetite supresssing ADD meds my you-know-what!!!

Don't give up on working with the school to get your son the help he needs. I have been struggling with them to take me seriously and help my son for two years. They are finally giving him the help he should have had then and he just brought a home a report card that shows he is making progress, plus I see it in the work he is bringing home, so I know it is real!
No problem.. that's why we are all here .. I think ADDers are really good at brain farts.. at least I am..
at least those kinds don't smell
