[QUOTE=Countrygirl]This year I just threw the entire tree (artificial -6 ft) with all lights and many ornaments in the dumpster.  Only took off sentimental ornaments.   - It was so easy this year!  Now, what will I do when December rolls around again?  Haven't given it much thought.  It doesn't matter today.    Way to go, CG!!!  Easy solution! Not cost efficient, however.

Hey Girl you need to get off your ass and order the next round of beers.. Christmas Tree.. Hey they go up in December.. dont they that's me ex-wife kept telling me for yrs... I thought she was just so nice.. shed even take it down... Hey where is that beer..
I just took mine down yesterday. I had to force my self to do it!Thanks, once again I love this board-makes me feel I'm not completely alone! I think I'll try the couple ornaments as I walk by thing. I hope like the rest of you I will be able to move them to the attic once they are down! Countrygirl- You crack me up... Sounds like a great idea, however my tree has been in my family for over 30 yrs, so throwing it out isn't an option. I wish I was rich and had a room I could just lug it into!

Sounds like you might be trying too hard.  The harder you try to make yourself do something, the harder it gets to actually do it.  I try and sneak up on stuff like that.  Don't think about it - just impulsively grab a couple ornaments off of it and put them in a box, repeat.  Sometimes I spend quite a bit of time on it or finish the job, unplanned.  It is the get going part that I have to work around.

Don't make it a chore, just a random one second action that you don't "work up to" in your head.

There have been years that my tree stayed up until the end of february!  Mine is down and has been , BUT it is in the bag sitting in the livingroom, the ornaments are neatly tucked away in their boxes, BUT they are lined up in the hallway instead of put up in the attic.. sigh, maybe next weekend I'll get them put away!

The tree is down but the decorations are still up and all the ornaments off the tree are in their boxes under the t.v

My mum has to mention it everytime she comes over. I think Im subconsiously leaving them just to annoy her

I'm just impressed that you were able to put one up. Every year I promise myself that I'll put one up. In 5 years, I've had exactly ONE tree!  Am I the only poor soul on this board whose Christmas Tree is still up? I look at it daily, wishing somehow or another it would take itself down! It's pretty but now has become a major point of contention with me and I am starting to resent it. I try so hard to muster up the will to take the DAMN thing down, Doesn't seem like it should be so hard ! I feel it has won it's battle to remain there, maybe until next year-I have contemplated st.patricks ornaments, easter, fourth of July, doesn't seem like it would be too hard to add things to it-Maybe if I weighed it down enough it would come down on it's own and I would be forced to remove it! On the bright side I suppose I glad it's not a real tree or my house would have probably caught on fire by now! Hey!  I wasn't even drinking when I did that.  That was a normal thought for me!   Anyway, thought it was your turn to get the beer!

Money?? - OMG!!!  I SO wish I understood that concept!!

It's still up! ... But I have HOPE because I am now iced in my home and it's a three day weekend! Maybe this time! Just trying to figure out if I should do it first or clean my room, or the kitchen, or sift through my daughters clothes that no longer fit ( growth spurt), or finish the work I brought home with me, or play the rest of prince or persia, or drink another pot of coffee, or see whats on the 67 chanels of TV, or keep surfing the internet!!!! Hmmm, maybe a snack!

Again!  I  haven't posted much, but  the  subject line caught my eye.  I do work on the road and see a lot of the insides of other people's houses.  I was just at one this week, and saw the characteristic piles around the house.(I need not describe them.  If you don't get it, just look next to your monitor, and under the chair.  If you still don't get it, stop reading now.)  I thought, "God, she's one of THEM!.  I mean YOU!  I mean ME!" or something.  Then I saw the Christmas tree over its pile of fallen needles and ornaments, and there went the last lingering doubt.

Hi psychgirl

It took me 3 or 4 days to get my tree all the way down.  I don't remember how long before I dragged it back downstairs.  I have a relatively small house for 6 ppl and 2 dogs.  Having the tree in the living room drives me crazy anyway.  Makes me feel claustrophobic.

Doing it a little at a time works best for me.  The ornaments one night, the lights the next and so on.  I agree too that its best to not think too much about it, just do it and think about how happy you'll be when its finished and your living room is back to normal.

Good Luck, Hope this is your weekend!
