When I feel no different with any medacine I let the dr. know. I don't solve everything with meds though. I use healthfood store for some of it. I also make sure that health stuff is taken at least 4 hrs between medacines.
Are you taking any supplements ? We all need them and could help over all health. Food doesn't give us all we need.
There is a Ibs diet I found it online. Bascially limit acid foods. We all should be eating acid/alkaline meals. Fact is most of us don't.
I am a 38 year old woman and was recently diagnosed with little to no blood level serotonin......(may or may nor correlate with brain level) - but I am betting it is low. I've been on ssri's for 25 years and never felt complete relief. SSRI's help you to re-use the serotonin you do have, but it you don't have much or any well you can see why they wouldn't work. I've also been diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder.
Now they tell me I have ADHD and I admit I can definitely see how I may have been misdiagnosed all these years. Anyway, I've been doing some research because I suffer from a lot of seemingly unrelated symptoms almost all of which can be attributed to low serotonin and ADHD. For example, I haven't had IBS symtoms since I started on the Ritalin. I tried to limit my research to reputable web sites like WEBMD, MEDLINE and NIH/MIMH. Here's what I found..... Any comments or similar cases out there? love to hear your story.
I've been on Prozac off and on since it first came out in the 1980's. It was only after working with a pain management doctor and explaining my strange and opposite of expected reactions to drugs that he suggested I may have a neurotransmitter imbalance and did a blood level serotonin measurement. Well, it came back that I have little to no serotonin. No wonder the SSRI's weren't working, zero times zero is still zero. The other drugs were probably seriously screwing with the level/balance of norepinephrine and dopamine causing disastrous and unexpected side effects. I started seeing a new psychiatrist and let her know about the test results and suggested that I had ADHD and for 25 years I have been treating the wrong ailment.
