Has my tolerance risen? need tips | ADHD Information

I'm hoping this will be accepted at this message board, I couldn't find any other adequat ones for this question.

I've been taking adderall on certain occasions for about a year now. (not prescribed) I quickly learned the addictive potential and had a few slip ups in my earlier use. Now I save it soley for days in school when I have multiple tests or am required for much concentration over a long period of time.

I wouldn't consider my use rare, on average I'll take it once a month, but it's not as if I use it regularly. Usually I'll take one 30mg pill in the morning and until lately it had been working fine and lasting until late in the night.

I took one on January 3rd, if I remember correctly, and noticed only about 2 hours of feeling the sought after effects. The rest of the day felt as if I came down and I felt very depressed and couldn't concentrate as well. My next use was today (Feb. 7). I recognized it kicking in but it just didn't feel like enough. I attempted to study for my upcoming quiz and didn't notice much of any advantages in concentration. It was mostly just a feeling of being awake with my heart pumping. I recklessly took another 15mg out of desperation, and it worked better and I feel as if I received 100s on both tests. But it wore off much quicker than it had in the past and was similar to the time I used it in January.

My only guess is that my tolerance has risen, but I don't understand how thats possible when only using it once a month. I'm not the least excited about raising the amount I take each time as 30mg seems like a ton. Are there any other potential reasons to why this is happening? Is there any way to ensure it will be effective? (I usually take them on an empty stomach around 7:15am) Should I just start using methlyphenidate next time I need a boost in my school performance? I hope you'll choose to acknowledge this thead despite me taking it illegaly.
Crowsnose38755.7135532407Yes, I'm aware of all your points. I do study the old fashioned way for tests, its just that in most cases it will be much more stressful with a higher chance of making errors. It is to make my normal life better and I don't blame you for thinking I'm wrong for doing so.
This would be a drug abuse problem.  Try the drug abuse forums, they can relate to your problem and help you stop this self destructive behavior.

I'll acknowledge this thread but won't give you license to illegally use our meds to make your normal life better.  Not going to happen.

What you are doing is a felony.  It's wrong too - you make it very tough for legit users to be taken seriously!  Can you see at least that?

How's about stopping taking illegal meds and trying to study the old fashioned way?  And for stims try red bull, jolt and mountain dew energy.  That stuff got me through university WITH ADHD and is sold to everyone.

Try to see things like this the way others do.  You are abusing the med at any dosage and you could easily kill yourself doing so.  Stop it and do it now.

I understand everyone elses frustration with your post but will try to give you some real advise.  I think that you are medicating yourself and not knowing what you are doing.  If you do not have ADHD then these meds will do nothing but give you more energy.  As the other gentlemen said you can do that in many different ways.  Also it is more controlable and not dangerous.  I understand the fact that you feel you need this but what next.  When school is finished are you going to take to finish the job at work?  What about when you have kids? Are you going to use it when you are too tired to watch them and need a pick me up?  You are on a path to dependency.  I use meds to be normal and have a chance in life like others without ADHD. Keep that in mind when you are using to be above normal.  These times are what build character and develop you as an adult and person.  Don't rely on a medication to do that because then you will not be true to yourself.

If you think you have ADHD then I recomend you get checked out and medicated by a professional.  Otherwise take our comments to heart.  And if you choose not to do that get yourself drugged up and have a stroke.  I hear that the sagging face look will be in next year with the ladies.

I understand what you are saying,It is not a good thing to take something without a prescription, but i do know that the goverment is looking at making adderol legel or available to the public, mainly for college student's in america because it is the "STUDY DRUG" so what you are doing a lot of people are doing.youre tolerence will go up if you take anymore than you normely take.If you take 30mg a morning normely, and oneday you take more then you will alway's need that amount more.that is how it work's for people that are not a.d.d./a.d.h.d.

I know alot of people that are doing crack too, I wonder if I should start?  I find it extremely hard to believe that the government is going to make adderall availible to the public so people can study.  Just last month the FDA was looking at putting a disclaimer on the bottle.   Again,  why don't people just do it the old fashion way, hard work and determination.  All these people are going to screw it up for us people that actually NEED meds to function normally.

if it helps you that much then you might have a.d.d. go to a doctor and get checked out.. heck some people dont find out until their early 30s...  if you really need it that bad for a test and if it makes that much of a difference then you just might have a.d.d. yourself.... theres nothing to be ashamed of man.......
