Johnnyboi - there are ample warnings on the labels of ADHD meds. They come with a complete printout showing possible symptoms and risks to taking them.
8 million users. 25 deaths. Big scares from the freaks that want us silent. Sad.

25 deaths from abuse, pre-existing troubles and overdoses. Yet instead of blaming the stupid and uninformed they still blame our meds. They help 7,999,975 people and 25 people had problems that lead to deaths. Let's see chemotherapy come up to our level - they would be revered!!
Ignore that hype Johnnyboi - don't become a troll.
I'm sure more people have died from eating at McDonalds.
even if the death rate would be higher i know personally that i would rather be able to live a life in which i am able to function for lets say 50 years then live to 80 and have never been able to have the clearity of though and functionality that i have now and if u want to get technical the only two things in the world that are good for you are water and lettuce
As with all meds, there are dangers involved in taking ANY drug and I do not disagree with the blackbox warning being put on these particular drugs. No child whatsoever (or adult either) should have to die from taking something that was supposed to help them. What everyone MUST remember though, is that this breaks down to 1 in about 1,000,000 chance of a death. Of course, if that 1 in a million happens to be your loved one - it is absolutely disastrous. Risks are inherent in anything we do to our take into our bodies. One just has to weigh the risks versus the benefits. More importantly than labels on medicine boxes, I believe every child on these drugs and all those yet to be put on them should be gone over with a fine tooth comb by the prescribing doctors prior to and while on said drugs. The loss of even one child is one too many.
Hypertension seems to be the most independent single risk factor for a serious cardiovascular problem. So, if you have hypertension, you should get off stimulant medication.
"8 million users. 25 deaths. Big scares from the freaks that want us silent. Sad."
Where did it say 8 million users? I can't find it. It said 3 million users - 2mil kids and 1mil adults.
The death rate among stimulant users is quite surprising low considering potent stimulants are and I expected a higher rate. If that's all they could find, then the safety of stimulants is quite amazing assuming that one is healthy with no history of heart disease.
I am willing to bet that you'll find deaths caused by antidepressants as well. Many antidepressants are known to cause some changes in cardiovascular sytems, often by increasing QTc (it can cause deadly cardiac arrest), increasing heart rate (higher heart rate at rest is more risky), and increasing blood pressure. The problem is FDA don't "see" it since adults take them and when they die of a heart attack, FDA would just assume it's because of their "typical risks of aging" when in fact, it could be their drug that caused it.
Few children died of sudden cardiac arrest when they took imipramine? Oddly, it was not reported in adults even though imipramine is used more often by adults. Why? Because doctors assume their deaths are caused by their depression or their "risk factors." Get it?
