Strattera split dosage | ADHD Information

Hi all,

Went to a check in at the doc yesterday, and he suggested splitting her dose -20mg at breakfast and 10 mg at dinnertime- since we'd been having some "issues" near the end of the day and evening. Does anyone here split dosages of strattera, and if so, is it working better? the same? Thanks

Allison

I have heard of this happening but it was my understanding that it was not necessary with something like strattera because it is a 24hour acting med that stays more consistent in your body.  We just started strattera doing 18mg for four days and now 25mg for 10 days and then we will go up to 40mg after the ten days.  We haven't seen any reay difference with it but I haven't expected to yet.  He continues to take his 40mg of Adderall XR in the morning. My son has been taking strattera since the beginning of last year.  I have been happy with it for the most part.  It seems to me like the medicine is wearing off in the middle of the day.  He is already on the highest doseage.   I like the strattera because he is not irritable and moody like he was on the adderall.  At one time the dr. told me to give him the strattera in the morning, but it would make him so sleepy that he would go to sleep everytime he was still at school.  Now i have never heard about the split doseages does that seem to work well?My 13 year old son is taking 60 mg. of Stratera in the am.  We tried taking it at night, but he wasn't sleeping!  Funny how is makes some sleepy and other more wakeful.  Anyway, I am not completely satisfied that Stratera is working for him.  He still has "homework issues" and is moody.  We tried combining Stratera with adderall and I really think that it worked well....except when on adderall, he doesn't eat.  We have an appointment the the Dr. in a couple of weeks to address the homework issue!
