Wellbutrin works well for me. It takes time to really get the effect and I didn't realize how much difference it made until I went off it this last time. It did greatly increase my mental alertness and sense of well being.
On the downside, I always feel hungry on it. I eat like a pig and gain weight. I don't believe that is a common side effect and I have heard that others have lost weight. That may be something you need to watch out for if you try it.
Wellbutrin helps me a lot, but unlike barb I have to remind myself to eat. And by nature I was a hungry person...Now I can't even stand the sight of food.Landensmom1, what is the primary symptom you're trying to target? My nearly 13-year-old son, who has bipolar disorder, ADHD and anxiety/depression, was recently prescribed Effexor (he just started a few days ago so it's too soon to know if it's going to work). Our pdoc told us that Wellbutrin is great for depression but doesn't touch anxiety. That's why he prescribed Effexor -- for both depression and anxiety.
