I would sometimes be in the car wit hthe family and just start blasting the air-conditioner. To the point that they were pulling blankets up! Then 15 minutes later, I would be normal.
I also used to just not feel like myself. I had very bizarre dreams at night and did not sleep well.
Oh yeah! I forgot about the cold nose part! I had that too.
Oh, and I totally understand what you mean about being in meetings like that! Oh, it was terrible!
And my face used to get beet red too.
Yes, there has been quite a number of comments about the fact that Strattera is *supposedly* a non-stimulant, whre many people feel that it acts just like one.
Personally, I found it to have some stimulated qualities, but not in a good way. If that makes sense. With Adderall, it has a speedy feeling, but not in a bad way. You just feel energetic and you feel good about doing things. It really helps in the motivation department.
With the Strattera, I just felt like my insides were racing but the outside didn't have any energy to do anything. I hope that made sense.
The side effects from Adderall, sheesh, hardly any for me! My BP is good, my pulse is good (unlike with the Strattera which shot both up sky high). I'm sleeping like a log. I would say the bad effects of Adderall are when you are "coming down" from it, I feel a bit cranky and antisocial. But that does not happen every day. Only sometimes. It seems to effect my appetite, but only for a couple hours after taking it. I do eventually get hungry and eat. What I'm really happy about is that it seems to haved curbed my "snacking" where I eat junk food. I pretty much just eat good stuff.
However, when it is "that time of the month," all bets are off as far as that goes! Still crave chocolate like there's no tomorrow!
Let me know if you have an specific questions and I'd be happy to answer them.
Let's just suffice it to say, if Strattera was the last ADHD drug on the earth, I *still* wouldn't take it!
When I was on Straterra I would find myself suddenly feeling very hot (even in an air-conditioned building). I would feel hot and start sweating.
But the strange thing is that my nose would be cold!
This side effect never went away for me. It seemed to happen once or twice early in the day (I took my dosage in the morning). This was often followed by drowsiness.
So it did help my concentration, but it made me tired.
I could finally focus in a meeting, but I was either turning red and sweating like some kind of junkie, or dozing off! Not very impressive on-the-job behaviors.
I am back on Concerta now. But it is a stimulant.
I had hot flashes big time on Strattera! And sweating, OMG, it was terrible! I'm talking dripping sweat. Constantly almost.
I was on it for 5 weeks and it never got any better. I'm on Adderall now. MUCH better!
Thanks for the reply Kimo,
I also experience a feeling like I'm speeding.. I thought this was suppose to be non-stimulant??? Anyway, what kind of side effects have you experienced on the adderall. Thanks.
Lynn
Hi All,
Again, thanks for the replys. It's good to know that I'm not crazy. I am starting to lean toward going off the Straterra, but I wonder whether I'm quitting before giving it a fair chance.. I also am a little afraid of starting on a stimulant (adderal, etc.), due the fact that it is, in fact a stimulant. I don't want to develop an addiction to it. It seems that majority of people on these and other message boards are not feeling the whole Strattera thing.. Also, Doctors don't know what the hell they're doing in terms of dosage amounts. It's really quite remarkable. And we wind up being the guinea pigs. There's more valuable information on these boards than in the Dr's office, where you pay for information that they don't even know is correct and you acquire all kinds of disturbing side effects. The beat goes on. Lynn
Hi all,
Okay, I'm presently on 25mg of straterra and a reduced dosage of Celexa (antidepressant) of 10mg. I have been on the straterra about a week. I am sweating like a pig, and am having hot flashes...Never did I have any of this before. Has anyone had this experience, and how long should I stay on this. I am suppose to increase the dose to 40mg next week, but am afraid I'll spring a leak. Any suggestions and or advice would be appreciated. Have a great weekend.
Lynn
