Dexedrine | ADHD Information

I have found that taking an antidepressant, Particularly Wellbutrin with Dexedrine will make the effects last longer, And increase the good effects of it a bit.

But do not take an MAIO antidepressant with it, Cause that can be fatal due to blood pressure issues.
I would just like to welcome any and all comments on the subject of Dexedrine.  I've been taking it for about a week now and though it felt good the first time, the following days it's really like a teeter totter.  Some days I might take a pill more than directed  and then some days I take less than directed.  Is it me or is it strong?  I know it's like the closest thing to Methamphetamine, which by the way, I had a problem with for about 15 years.  The only thing that Dexedrine seems good for-for myself anyways, is the focus I need to write and organize my paperwork, and otherwise I feel sort of like a wreck.  It just happens to be a stressful time of my life and because of someone close to me passing away in very recent days, I have added responsibility.  I would just like to hear from people who  do take it daily and would like to see how it is going for you on it.  I had taken Ritalin LA a while back and noticed that it helped me a lot better and I wasn't such a nervous wreck.  Because of circumstances with money and what have you, I am not able to get Ritalin LA for a couple of weeks.  And now that I think about it, how is that going to go? You know, the transition?  Any and all help from you nice people will be appreciated.

Lewiss - firstly you shouldn't be self-adjusting your medication.  If the doctor has given what you feel is a less than adequate dosage talk to them!! To change the amount is to be risking abuse.  Please don't.

You need to be on dex for a couple weeks before it truly works best.  You at first will find that you have an initial increase in energy and focus - and if it's short-acting then you'll feel it drop somewhat as it wears off.  It stays for a very short time in your system.

Also I do take a little offence to how many are told that dexedrine is akin to methamphetamine.  There is a whole class of meds in the amphetamine category - and they are all very different.  Dexedrine won't give the pleasure center the affect that meth will - it works very differently than that.  And you can be on dexedrine for a very long time and never feel the addictive effect while meth can take only one or two applications.  Very different.

If you are on short release dexedrine I'd recommend monitoring how long you feel the effect and write that down.  Now if you are feeling that it doesn't last as long as you like - try not to stagger them so far apart - bring the pills closer together.  Everyone has a different effect time.
