Even when I took meth for 15 years or so it went hand in hand with caffiene use. And now they are finding that in rats the effects are worsened? What's next? So by all rights, I should stop taking caffiene altogether? Is that what I'm to understand? Now I take a stimulant for ADHD and take that with coffee in the morning, not unlike with meth. How many people out there do the same thing? Because of this news, have you all stopped any and all caffiene? I certainly would like some feedback on this.
I drink coffee with Ritalin in the morning. The only negative I have heard is that since it is a diaretic it might flush some of the Ritalin from my system and won't have full effect. Whatever.
There is always going to be some reason for this and that and the other. Drinking two cups of coffee in the morning is a fairly simple pleasure. I'm not about to stop. This is life. Not a science experiment!
Ok Lewiss - I say this many MANY times but I'll reiterate. Our ADHD meds are NOT like methamphetamines! The meth that is used "recreationally" is a very powerful amphetamine and targeted to the pleasure centers of the brain. Ours is not.
When we take caffeine the only potential side effect is a jittery feeling from having too much excitement in the brain. But caffeine has been found to be very safe - so much in fact that they haven't been able to find any long-term effects in animal testing whatsoever. That's a pretty good testimonial.
Meth is not ADHD meds. ADHD meds are not meth. Get the picture??

You! What about me?
What if I am actually a deranged, caffienated lunatic, and I just don't realize it?! *gasp* What if my entire life has been a coffee induced delusion?
Juan Valdez in drag?! Oh, the tragedy!

OMG!!! Are we in the same delusion? What if we aren't really posting here? OMG!!
Let's see,
From 6 to about 14 I had 1 cup of coffee in the morning, 1 cup of tea in the afternoon but in all fairness it was mostly on cold days and I won't count the tea so will calculate accordingly... (Oh, and by the way I used to throw temper tantrams if I didn't get my cup of doctored up tea (mostly milk) when I was still in a highchair)
Age 6 to about 14: 1 cup x 90 days = 90 x 8 yrs = 720,; 2 cups of coffee - one in morning and one after dinner till age 17: 2 x 365 = 730 x 3 = 2,190; 18 to 34, 1 pot of coffee a day (12 cups) 12 x 365 = 4,380 x 16 = 70,080 (OMG!) ; 34 to 41 about 6-8 (7 average) cups a day. 7x 365 = 2,555 x 7 yrs = 17,885
Total 91,595 Holy cow, I should be dead! (Give or take a 1,000 and don't check my math)
All that coffee and I have never been take away in a patty wagon.
I hold a full time job and have since 17 yrs old. I have a happy social life. My family all still love me.
Never been addicted to drugs but do smoke. Now I really should be dead! Hmm, does coffee cause Mental Issues. Maybe, since I took the time to calculate how much coffee I have consumed in my life. Now, I need to calculate how rich I would be if I had never taken on the pleasure.
