Help with giving meds | ADHD Information

I am having trouble with getting my 7yo daughter to take her medicine. We have tried to teach her how to swallow the pill but she says she can't. So we are having to sprinkle the Adderall XR in yogurt in the am. She hates the taste. Says it is bitter. I'm sure it is. Any help in getting her to take this better so its not a battle every morning? I never had this issue with my son when he started meds at 7. He never questioned why he had to take them. She doesn;t understand why she has to take them and I don;t want her to feel like we are punishing her. I've tired to explain it to her but she is very bull headed and strong willed. Any suggestions? The Adderall XR does help her tremendously and she is doing SO much better at school and socially and in her afterschool activities. She even had 2 friends spend the night last night and there were no fights and everything didn't have to be her way. Now thats a first. Thanks for any help with this.

I give my son his concerta with Peanut Butter.  The pharmacist also recommended purchasing the Mini M&Ms & have them practice swallowing with those (because if they chew it or it melts in their mouth, it's not bad).  But the Peanut Butter works best for us.  Just put the pill in the middle of the peanut butter to where it is covered up.  He knows the pill is there but is able to get it down without gagging.I also give me son his concerta with peanut butter (sometimes  in a small piece of peanut butter sandwich, and sometimes just in a scoop of peanut butter)  Works every time.have you considered crushing & snorting?

Can I get the website for that cup.  Sounds like a great idea and worth checking out.

Thanks !

I bought this cup online that's used for medications.  It has a little ledge in the cup and when the swallow the liquid the pill go down with the liquid.  My son used it for a few days and now just puts the pill in his mouth and swallows it with water.
