Job Hunting

Ok, I know I am in the right place for asking this and starting this thread!

I have to this point worked 27 different jobs. And want encouragement and ideas from the group here to motivate me (cause I am in a fix right now) have to replace my current employment I just quite so not to fall on hard times with finances.

Past jobs which I have worked:

Security Guard, I use to have private investigative license (have to get renewed) but checking on this find it to just lead to minimum wage jobs though it was like $50 per 4 year period to keep the license up.

CDL Hazmat license, with all the endorsements, but I am a bit nervous need further training in this area. But willing to try if I must since the pay would be $10k more then what I have currently been making.

Clerical / Administrative skills - this is my strongest area, I can type likely up to 48 to 68 wpm depending on computer typing on. Also have strong understanding of Microsoft word & excel... internet programs.

Customer service is my strongest area also, like helping people with problems, also have strong understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, helping people with credit issues and id theft. Like giving talks and teaching about credit.

I was interested in breaking into the banking industry, but data processors need college education which I lack, also was interested in medical data entry field, but have little experience here as well... and all things look to cost good money to extend my learning for medical decoder jobs.

Problem areas are organizing, filing, and keeping notes, I do multi - task all the time, just that I am not good at it, cause I am all over the place and currently trying to get straight on medications. I am also Part ADHD & Bi-Polar and right now quite stressed out.

I would love to start a business of my own either credit repair, or credit bureau I know that is a conflict in terms, but I am good at both areas. I just don't have the education for managing a business...

I was interested in hiring coach if the money was right for the area of work I would be seeking to get into, someone that could help me learn how to manage and problem solve to get by with what ever area of work I would get into.

I had been interested in on the internet work at home jobs, and curious if anyone has hooked up with something like that.... taking surveys, or typing at home, or anything like that that someone like me could do.

Any ideas welcome from all... if you name it I may have already done it, just don't know the name of the skill I can do, that has been quite a problem for me to.

My last job I kept calling myself an office manager, but actually had little to do with managing other people... so then I thought I was a general office clerk, but still my skills surpass that area. So likely I have skills like executive secretary - I was # 2 person to the owner of the business - I did sales, customer service, had to remember details of over 500 customers, handle billing accounts receivable too. And admin many many programs, teaching people how to comply with credit reporting laws, and learn systems and products that we sold.... so what ever job title that would be I would like to know. I had two jobs like this in 4 - 5 year period.

Thanks,

ADHD people tend to have many, many interests that can pull them in different direction and make it difficult to decide what they really want and need. In grad school I always have at least two ideas for my thesis floating around and both of them seem equally good in my mind though I'm sure to others one would reign over the other.

What about being a bank teller? That sounds like a good job for you. You like to help people, you're a fast typer and you have investigative skills that could help detect fraud.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately them teller jobs pay $7 to $9 range,

I did get call back from trucking company today interested in me, just have to geet my transcripts from the college and forward them over, they do more training... I am just hoping that it is not team driving that I have to do for training... cause that is a serious problem with my bi-polar not having enough sleep trying to drive while trainer is sleeping.

I have interview with a company that charges a fee but would help market me to get the best possible job tomorrow, going to be a 2 hour drive to go check that one out.

Got so much going on right now, I am still having trouble with procrastinating though.

Have you ever worked in sales?

If you really like people and really like helping them find what they want, that can possibly a good way to go. The pay can be very good, but may not be steady.

THere is a very wide variety of sales-related careers. Some sales jobs require a lot of organization and self-dicipline, but others not so much. The most important factor is self-motivation. If you can wake up every day really excited to get dressed and get out and talk (and mostly listen) to a lot of people, it may be a good fit.

Most people have something they know a lot about (product or service). And almost every product or service has someone selling it.

I am in sales and would be happy to talk to you about it.

Wow - you sound very multi-tasking and varied talent - just a little focus lacking orientated. .

There is something out there for you, but in the meantime perhaps have a backup plan - maybe studying, or just a part-time job that will cover your living costs.

Unfortunately my cost of living will not allow for part time work, and I need to match my last pay of $11 range, actaully need higher then that because now I will be traveling 1 hour to get to job, so I need to cover gas expense.

I think that interview yesterday was a waste, interesting, but I think they are going to charge too much for their service. I have 2 interviews today, one for doctors office, and 2nd on for training in the medical transcription field. I hear that 2nd one can pay good, but don't know if I dare pay money out at this time for such training when what I really need is a job.

I need to keep paying bills, only have a weeks time to get set up, I get my last pay check to cover next month then I need ongoing income from there.

I have to check with college today to get my transcript for the truck driving job. And squeeze in going to hospital today for medical check up. I can't even afford any more meds after this batch runs out. I can't get medical help either, cause we make too much money, but I am between a rock and hard spot, I keep stressing out. Panicing.

I had to let my other job go, it got to stressful, unfortuantely.

I currently run a web site, helping people with credit problems, and just left job working for credit bureau, going to be making some more calls today in that area. Been also keeping options open for figuring how to run a business of my own... but don't have any financing. I am confused, totally all over the place right now.

Darn I have my CDL License but recently 2 companies said my training was too long ago for them to take me on driving... I didn't have any over the road experience, and will cost $3k to retake class and 8 weeks time killed when I need a paying job now.

Thank goodness my meds are working, otherwise, I think I would of buckled already on the job hunting. I feel the urge to just stay home and hide and not leave the house for a few months.

It is so flustrating when there are so many directions I can go with my skills, but not a one of them good enough to score a high paying job, makes me want to cuss for time lack of certification.

Would like to start my own business, but again I am stuck with indecision, doubt, and fear of the unknown... plus my lack of understanding on how to run a business.

Sorry, just been down, all I can think about these days...
