My son is 7 as of monday Feb. 20th has been taking adderall xr 10mg and seroquel 25mg. He was diagnosed about a year ago with ADHD and was prescribed strattera, with no results. After about 5 months he was took off all meds completely, until things got worse. I took him to a specialist not only for the ADHD but for emotional issues, he cried constantly, had very low self esteem, always degrading himself, he could not even go to school most days because he was emotional wreck. Monday night he started the seroquel and this morning he took the adderall xr. Since he has got home from school he has done nothing but slept. I've read that this is normally in the beginning but if anyone can relate to me please let me know.
HI Angie,
The adderall has clamed him down but not made him tired. Jeffrey can be aggressive, I was hoping that when he takes the serquel it will help that. Was your son aggressive?

Hi,
My son is also 7 yrs old and just started taking Adderall XR 10 mg 2 days ago. He was taking focalin for about 5 months but it didn't seem to be working anymore so the Dr said Adderall is better because it doesn't spike like focalin. We haven't started the seroquel yet. I wanted to give the Adderal 2 weeks to settle in. My son has also changed for the worse this year. He was very outgoing and isn't fitting in with this class, he is now introverted and very self conscious. I am hoping the seroquel will help. Please keep me posted on this. I live in north NJ. I was just wondering where you live.

Hey Im from Tennessee about 30 miles north of Memphis. My son has been taking both medications for about 11 days now and the hyperness seems way better he still gets emotional from time to time but not as bad as it was. He's doing alot better compared to what it was like. Has the adderall made him tired? The first couple of days with my son on it, he was really tired, but now it does not seem to bother him. Good Luck and thanks for posting. Keep me informed.

My son is also aggressive but more to himself than to other people. He has gotten mad at his brothers and you have to step in and take control, but it seemed worser when he got mad at himself. There have been times where I thought that he was gonna hurt himself but he don't realize at the time what he's doing. When he gets like this it's like he doesn't know what's going on around him. {thats whats scary} Since he's been on the medicine he has gotten better but he still can get a little aggressive. Not nothing like it was though. How is your son grades in school?
My sons grades in school were good but this quarter they weren't too good. He now refuses to read with a reading partner or draw anything or color. I don't know why. I think he may have just gotten very self conscious lately. He isn't getting along with the kids in his class this year. He has 3 other friends and they put them all in other classes this year and he doesn't seem to be making any new ones. He says things like all the other kids write so nice but I don't, he is just very critical of himself. He is aggressive toward other kids but not himself.
