Out growing adhd???? | ADHD Information

Oh, right, i heard this woman on the bus saying she knew someone who's kid had adhd & has outgrown it.

What you just said made sense though.

Dunno what she was on about then I have herd that also. I bet they just learned to cope. Or compensate (don't think that's spelled right, sorry). Since my school doesn't really want to recognize my ADD I've had to learn to do things in different ways for the past fourteen years of my school life.

As far as putting your son on meds or not, I'd talk to your Dr. about alternate treatments. I don't know how much he'd know since he's a Ped. but he may be able to point you in the right direction to a more 'knowledgable' or experienced Dr. Or you may just want to try a different med. I'm on Focalin Short Term 10mg and although I'm still adjusting the dose with my Dr. it's pretty good and the only side effect I've had is it interacting with my Allegra D (actually it messes with the D part). I know it varies a lot for everyone though, I've read about a lot of people it completly didn't work for or had major side effects and than some have said it was like a miracle worker.

And how old is your son? I know puberty, since it's already messing with the body, can change how bad or how good the ADHD is.

I'd really talk to your Dr. about all of this.I thought my son had out grown adhd until a couple of days ago,
He came off his meds becoz they wasnt making any differnence & he was up all night, he came off them early december, & has been alot better behaved in school & at home, the past couple of days he has been soooooooo bad his chart has four days now with just red dots! (red-bad, blue-good), we are waiting for a doctor's appointment to see the pediatrtion at the moment, im going to see how it goes til then but if he's still being bad i dont know if i should put him back on med's?
I was ify about putting him on in the first place, im just really worried about the long term effects, i would rather try to help him in other ways & go throu hell & back than for him to suffer these long term effects.Disorders are not out grown.
