Pm'd you
I have tried all over the counter sleep aids and was prescribed many sleeping pills such as transidone? They all worked the 1st time I tried them then the next couple of nights they kept me up all night so I quit taking them and quit going to the doctor cause I thought they could no longer help me. I didn't try pot to self medicate I was just getting stoned and noticed I was able to fall asleep fast so I researched on the internet and this is what I have found. I don't worry about my lungs as I am a smoker already.

Look at the gorgeous smile on that wee one already!!!

She is lovely

"Racing Brain Syndrome" (RBS) = Really Bad Scenario!  Or Rotten Because Sarcastic, or or Reoccurring Brain Slip-ups, or Reoccurring Bowl Smell or Really Butt Stupid or..................

I find that because my mind travels at such a rate through the day I often "shelf" thoughts...  This is hard to explain but I will try, I will be having an important conversation with someone and during that conversation I will think of something that I think is cool, I dunno lets say building an elevator in my house...  But I know that I need to pay attention to my conversation so I think, "I will have a think about my elevator later" but I dont because we cant remember things like that...  now imagine doing this process 15-20 times a day, once I lie down to sleep my brain starts catching up with the days events and all these thoughts that I have "shelved" through the day come back, but I digress on EVERY one of them ending up being awake 3 hours later....

But this is just my take on things, I average about 4 hours sleep a night (a little more at the minute because of sheer exhaustion from our new baby girl)..

Here she is by the way, her name is Max and she is 3 months old, fighting fit and the most beautiful creature in the world...

Well, I have to disagree.

We've self medicated all our lives.

So now we know what we've been medicating.

And a doc is prescribing something that works.

I say keep experimenting until you find what works for you.

best of luck,

D

All babies are Beautiful, and it is our own mistakes and misgivings which takes away from lifes cherished miracles. I know exactly what you're talking about when you say you 'shelve ' thoughts. I've an ability to 'separate' a portion of my mind while concious to work on an entirely different problem, or search for information lost in memory. Someone may ask me a question, and i tell them" it'll take a while to remember" . In a few hours to days,it'll suddenly 'pop' to the top of conciousness! It's not that i don't have a good memory, but the systematic 'recall' sucks! [QUOTE=Davidornado]Well, I have to disagree.

That is so self-destructive.

If you dont suffer with sleep problems as a result of your ADHD then you're very lucky, but some of us do. My brain goes into overdrive when Im meant to be drifting off to sleep. I believe that's what Dunno77 is talking about.

Its not a discussion on illegal drugs and I dont see what is so offensive about insomnia on this board or ways in which to deal with it.

Some people really have issues on this board. Dunno was only asking a question for Godsake.

I dunno, Perhaps there might be anxiety issues preventing sleep. I tend to get drunk or plastered on occasion just to get 'restful sleep?' If you go to a doctor first , and try some of the 'hypnotics' available by prescription, you may save your lungs from some torture and receive better results than from marijuana. I'd try the prescription route first , as you can't really be sure of what you buy on the street is really of 'medical quality' IE, is it 'good stuff' or laced with something, or just 'ragweeed'. See a doc about the problem, not the med.Sleeping pills keep you up at night?  "Racing Brain Syndrome"?  Give me a ****ing break.  bepatient38772.3746759259I've never heard of "racing brain syndrome".  Please enlighten us.  As for insomnia, you should check with a Doctor.

unbelievable.  At lease take it downstairs. Some people really are here for support.

Here is just one article there are more plus oregon was looking to add it to their medical marijuana list.unbelievable. At lease take it downstairs. Some people really are here for support.   I don't understand this comment? Why are you on an adult ADHD board talking about insomnia and marijuana?

Ive used for insomnia, but its a really bad habit to get into. Have you gone to a sleep clinic? They can be really helpful when it comes to insomnia.

In saying that, I still only sleep four hours a night but that's all I need.

I am 32 years old and always new I had adhd. My mom always said that I was just hyperactive. It is so bad the sleeping pills keep me up all night and medication never seems to work. My problem is that at night it takes anywhere from 2-4 hours to fall asleep because my mind just won't stop long enough to fall asleep. So physicaly I am dead tired but mentaly my mind goes 100 mph. Is there anyway to tell if you have racing brain syndrome? I tried marijuana last week for the first time in 16 years and found I was able to fall asleep quite quickly. I live in oregon where we have medical marijuana but am afraid to talk to a doctor feeling he will just think I am a pot head. I function just fine throught the day I can concentrate on multiple tasks and get them all done. My only problem is never being able to get to sleep. any help out there would be appriciated. What kind of sleeping pills did you try?

What dose?

How long did you take them?

How often can you not sleep?

I have problems with insomnia periodically, i get thinking and just can't go to sleep, sometimes for two weeks at a time and perscription sleep aids havn't helped me either.  Sometimes I can go to sleep If I work out really really hard that day, but the thing that really gets me sometimes is when I start realizing all the things I never finished during the day.  I have to get up sometimes and just do stuff until I feel like it's done, and then I can relax, not always, but that might help?OMG!...I have RBS!!!

Thank God I'm winning...

I gotta ask... Whats RBS?

Really Big Scrotum

actually its "racing brain syndrome"......long story

I wonder if NO2 would be good for a "Racing Brain".

I wonder if Tryans' RBS comes with other blessings, and if it's 'contagious'? I'll just about bet you could find more on a porn site about it

OMG LMAO!

Sure sleeping pills can keep you awake, if your ADHD. And 'Racing Brain Syndrome'? To me, it's just another word for ADHD!

Stims put you to sleep and sleeping pills keep ya awake. At least that is the case for me. And I'm severely ADHHHHD.

Dunno, I can empathize with you and the 100mph mind, but I also agree seeing a doctor for not getting to sleep at night may be a good idea. Are you on any ad/hd stims right now? Although it may help you get to sleep, mj may not be the best route, unless of course you are Rx it, and I highly doubt you will be for the racing mind of an adhder. :(

Have you tried a cup of coffee before going to bed. That usually puts me right out within 30 minutes. [QUOTE=dunno77]I am 32 years old and always new I had adhd. You should see a doc about this.  This could be depression.  Trying to treat it yourself is not a good idea.
I only need a box to gather fragments of my mind. If i were to gather all the fragments at one time , the box would definately be too small of a volume. But then , if I could also organize them to fit the smallest space, I would be normal and not ADHD. My mind is much larger and more open!I'm not advocating no doc.

I'm saying a doc doesn't know everything.

I am master of my own mind, and my body.

I live with me 24/7. Doc sees me 15 minutes per month.

I'm smart enough to know what works, what doesn't, and what works better.

I'm saying take what doc says, and if you're not satisfied with that, modify his treatment.

I do it all the time. I tell him what I've done, and he usually agrees, then adjusts my prescriptions.

Those who trust their docs blindly will take a lifetime, if ever, to find their best treatment.

This, is self constructive.

Don't put me in a box, yours or anyone else's.

I have a mind, it is sharp, it is brilliant, and I will use it.
