Adderall Question | ADHD Information

My son has been takingAdderallXR 5 mg for the past 6 months. His doctor is looking into upping his meds to control the hyperactivity which I understand. 
I was talking with some moms of ADHD kids today and we were discussing meds and now I am confused.  They are telling me that he should be on meds 7 days a week while he has been on the for only school days(5 days) and sometimes when we have outings, suppers, church on the weekends.  Who do Ilisten to?  Any advise?

If he doesn't have any problems not taking it on the weekends thats probably best.  A lot of people are paranoid about stumulants.  Some doctors like haveing "drug hollidays" so the body doesn't get to used to the drug and become less effective, and some just think less is always better.  Personaly, IMO, I don't think taking drug hollidays makes much difference in the real world, it sounds like a good idea but in the last 20 yrs that I've been on stimulant meds I have noticed only a small decline and I think most of it is due to age.
