Just remember DavidO - the US constitution was designed then to protect all people - as long as you were white, god-fearing, upper-class landowners.   It kind of missed the mark for those poor, down-trodden sorts that missed the first boats.  And the blacks.  Oh, and of course the original settlers of america - the native peoples (well I think they were hoping that smallpox would take care of that)

What gets me is things like the right to bear arms.  It was in the constitution to make sure that in case of another attack from the British Navy (could have happened) they would be prepared with a militia that was forewarned and forearmed.  Guess what my american cousins - you can rest easy the brits aren't coming - honestly!  So why not take that out now.  You could save a lot of lives if it were a privilege (as in the rest of the free world) and not a right.

Just my two cents.

Ok - everyone wanting my hide form a nice orderly queue here lol.

I like the freedom to pee.

It's a relief.

actually i do believe there was a program which provided whiskey & blankets

Awwww, c'mon guys!

I like guns and things that blow up!

If we weren't pulling the trigger, someone else would.

Look what happened to New York. Thrice.

Want it to happen to L.A.?

It's next, ya' know.

Then Dallas.

There was an arrest in Dallas when I was there last year, b/c some foreign nationals were acting suspicious taking pictures of the high rises. Now they don't allow that. Even our own citizenry can't shoot with film now. Guess the terrorists are winning...

We ought to require everyone to carry a gun, instead of trying to ban them.

Nebraska?!?!
The rest of WHAT story?  The 10th or 11th?

Hmm, topic quandry... the rest of the story ... or... right to bear arms...

In theory we could take the right to bear arms out of the constitution.

Except that you forget, this is a country who has a media circus lasting several months over what our president did or did not do with his pecker.  This is the country where the entire city of New Orleans sat underwater for 2 days without the aid of national guard simply because a couple of elected officials had a tiff.  This is the country where people run around beating their chests about "freedom and democracy" while we bomb the crap out of anyone who threatens our cheap sources of oil.

The right to bear arms isn't just an outdated constitutional provision, it is a way of life.  *evil grin*

It is ALWAYS about the money. Politicians and what they do with their peckers and bombs remind me of professional wrestlers.

Now I'm goin' out back and machine gun me some trees and innocent animals.
MAPLE trees in honor of Glen.

davie wants the old west back again.

we could all go around shouting and shooting our guns while riding on a horse.  i am in.  sounds like fun.

Remember when the Constitution of the United States of America protected individual's rights? I do.
It still does.

Imagine that!

Are you going to rob someone legally carrying a gun in defense? I think not!

Carrying knives on planes, air marshalls should be trained in semi-automatic weapons. May not save the whole plane, but could save hundreds on the ground!

Nukes would still be an option if Bush hadn't 'jumped the gun' on policy. Now , we'll have to be attacked with a nuke first to have world support.

In a movie I just watched this was conducted by the British during the French and Indian War, I think.
