I dont know about adderall nor medicating for adults but I wanted to say welcome and hello!  Happy to have you on board with us all Hi Alamedasunshine......Straterra is a blood level medication and can take up to 6 weeks before it is totally effective. Straterra is a fairly new drug so if your experiencing unpleasant side effects or have specific questions, speak with your doctor or your pharmacist. Welcome to the board :))

Hi all,

My 21 yr-old daughter and I just started taking Straterra 5 days ago and I wanted to get some advise on dosing.  My doctor suggested starting out with 40 mg for 3 days and then upping it to 80.  Everything I am reading says I can either take it all in the morning or 40 in the morning and 40 in the early aft.  I read on another BB that Staterra wears off after 5 or 6 hours and it is important for both my daughter and myself to be focused and (hopefully) less stressed and irritable in the evening.  She is going to college and, though she is reading the material and understanding it , it takes her forever to get her homework done and I help her stay focused and work on her homework with her to try to speed things up (she won't stop until she finishes).  I tend to be irritable easily and I'm hoping to be able to focus and be easier to get along with.  I am worried about how it will effect our sleeping.  Erin has trouble sleeping anyway and I don't want to aggravate that.  I seem to be waking up during the night the last couple of nights.  I don't mind putting up with sideeffects at first if they will tone done later.  I take Buspar and when I started it I was very jittery, but it doesn't bother me at all anymore...  Thank you ahead of time!  I am new to BB's.
