Lead and ConstipationAll three of my children have been tested for lead; it was not high so we did not have to do anything. My older 2 children, who have bipolar disorder, also had a heavy metals test that also turned up negative. Again, we didn't have to do anything. I'm not sure where you got the information that ADHD children have frequent constipation. It is not part of the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. Some children get frequent constipation and it can cause problems (do a search of encopresis), but it is not limited to ADHD kids.
In reading some health information I have found out a lot of good information. But some topics are just touched on. for example lead. Has anyone ever had their child tested to see how much lead they have? If so what happens is the lead level is too high, how do you correct this? Also does anyone’s child have constipation frequently, this is also a common result in children with ADHD and it can cause problems. We had to take my son to the Hospital at 3:00 A.M. because of it. The source of this information was . . . ? I feel this was a very ignorant statement and I do not appreciate the humor or maybe it was an ignorant use of the emoticons. I posted the topic due to reading a purification book that was talking about the chemicals not leaving the body and causing the behavior problems, it was a symptom of the outcome not the cause. I am trying to find some help for my son not more bad attitude. ![]() ![]() The source of this information was . . . ? I

the topic due to reading a purification book that was talking about the

some help for my son not more bad attitude. i think i follow what you are saying here but let me be sure. constipation may cause certain chemicals (such as lead) to be trapped (or maybe retained is a better word) within the body. these chemicals may then contribute to poor behavior. am i understanding this correctly? what was the name of the book on purification that you read? i'll have to check it out as i find this an interesting theory. an imbalance in chemicals (in the form of minerals, vitamins ect) whether it be too much or too little, is known to contribute to behavior problems. it's not too much of a leap to think that substances retained in the system (via constipation) may do the same. please don't be put off by imac. he/she seems to enjoy needling newbies, especially ones with "different" viewpoints. just ignore him/her - but please return ![]() ![]() ![]() The source of this information was . . . ? ![]()
i believe imac was poking fun (yet again) at a new poster (the belittling emoticom) and obviously the poster felt the same way. read her follow up post. why not just ask the name of the book- like i did? why make fun of what she said? your cutesy post isn't fooling anyone ogram. we know why you are walking on eggshells at the moment but we aren't worried. your true self (the one that lies and tries to trick people) will rear it's ugly head soon, as it always does ![]() i guess i could post links to all the ugliness you have created. hmmm. oh and don't EVEN try and blame me for any of the crap that has fallen on you. remember, you flung it yourself ![]() ![]()

Also does anyone’s child have constipation frequently, this is also a common result in children with ADHD and it can cause problems. cool!!, I'd like to know what book you obtained the information from. And for the record, not every one is out to point fingers and jump on new people on the board. i don't get why anyone would consider a question such as imac did "The source of this information was . . . ? no one said constipation causes adhd. where did you get that from anyway? i merely suggested the fact that chemical imbalances (vitamins/minerals are in this group) can cause many problems including behavioral ones in children. not being abel to rid the body of chemicals could be an issue. or maybe not. who knows? why is this so difficult for you to understand? why is it when someone posts something you can't seem to grasp, they are some sort of troll and should be run off? do you really think you know all there is to know about adhd and should be in charge of who gets to post and who does not? my goodness, you're so smart as far as humor goes- what you did is not remotely humorous. it was rude. is this what you mean to say- that adher's are rude? rudeness is a choice and one you make fairly often. out of my league? you have no idea what "league" i am in and it's presumptous of you to think you do. i know you have searched out my user names, posted bogus responses ect.. on forums i used to visit. i think you must feel like you know me somehow but you have no clue. still, it's pretty scary that you seem so intent on this... talk about needing therapy ![]() why is this thread here? because that's where the poster put it! if it was on the alts board i would have responded the same way. why do you consistently try to put a wedge in when there's no need to? it seems obvious to me that you have a problem with alternatives being sought and/or discussed. why is that imac? now i am done! to the original poster- i apologize for interupting this thread. kppy Wow - a lot of anger! Understandable I guess, misunderstandings and overly sensitive people abound in our group. Firstly - lead poisoning cannot cause ADHD but rather can mimic it. Heavy metal poisoning is something that should be checked right away in advance of any ADHD testing. That, thyroid disorders and other mimicking disorders should be ruled out right away. Even something as benign as blood sugar levels can cause many of the ADHD symptoms. This is basic ADHD 101 type information and should be well known to any here. As for constipation sure that can be caused by lead poisoning. It can also be caused by the ADHD child and the habit of eating what tasted good rather than what is good for you. A diet of sweets and carbohydrates will dry up and cause all sorts of intestinal troubles. I spent a lot of time as an ADHD kid very constipated. As an adult I rarely am as I have improved my diet and exercise so it's not an issue anymore. Can't we all just - get along? I know I often zip off on a tangent but I'm trying to turn over a new leaf. We are already drying up here for new posts - let's not alienate everyone! ![]()

we know why you are walking on eggshells hay, i never thought about it like that. /QUOTE] this is exactly what i meant. these two in particular like to
go after new members in an attempt to ridicule and challange any method
that seems different. imac, are you saying the original poster is ogram- up to her old tricks again, or are you saying that you have another "new" name? you guys are pathetic and i'm done with this thread. about the x-lax. this has NOTHING to do with what the original
poster was suggesting. but hey, go ahead and have a box or
two. it may help to get rid of what you two are so full of

we know why you are walking on eggshells hay, i never thought about it like that.
![]() ![]() First of all, I am truly sorry that my original post met such a small mind or two that they had to be so negative. I had always been taught that the only silly question is the one not asked and I was under the impression that the people to ask that might have the answers would be parents with ADHD Kids. I have since been proven wrong. This is evidently not the place for information but the place for unhappy people to vent and attack others. I am very surprise that this place is still here. The original post was two fold. The first question was about lead and another was just to find out if any of you had notice a problem with constipation. It was not an open invitation to attach my intellect. The only way I would not be intelligent would be as closed minded as a few evidently are and not to question anything. I want to help my child and not put him on medication if I can help it. I guess you might describe me as a naturalist and I do not believe in chemicals unless absolutely needed. When you have an ADHD kid that is highly intelligent and can fully focus on items at home or in small settings but has a behavior problem at school; would you breakdown and put him medicines even though he has not been tested for any physical problems? Or would you try and find other ways of helping him? Would you do just to make your life and teacher's or school's life easier?
