Hi
I was recently diagnosed with ADD. Prior to that I was diagnosed with severe depression and had been on every anti-depression medicine on the market. My new doctor prescribed Adderall. The first couple of days I took it I felt HAPPY. I still couldn't focus and my energy was still very low, but I was Happy. After the third day, I felt nothing. I actually feel more depressed then ever. I go to see my pyschiatrist again tomorrow but am debating whether to try other ADD medications or not. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
i would definitely give it a few more days on the adderall. i just recently started taking adderall and was previously diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder. those meds did nothing for me. adderall has actually calmed me down a bit and is pretty much keeping me focused. The problem is that I don't feel any more focused at all on the Adderall. I feel less motivated then ever and very angry. I read that a side effect of an adverse reaction to adderall is if you have an extreme high and then you crash on the medication after... Your doctor will probably tell you that you need to try another med.

It may well be a case of trying other meds - don't give up, especially if they have been trying to treat you for depression, which isn't the root cause of your problems. From what I understand, everyone with ADHD goes through depressive phases, but with the right treatment, it should be possible to get out of the rut.
