Lost?

My suggestion is easier said 4 some people..... Just do a brain dump.... what ever is bugging ya (bugger), put it to rest.  Have a few beers (3) no more...... lay back and watch some good tv programs that interrest ya. NO DRUGS.....Dr, meds OK but NO DRUGS unless U really want problems.

lastly, accept Jesus as your personal Savior and let him do the worrying 4 U..........  Now go out and buy some Budweiser

Hi,

I also don't know whether I really have it, but I tried ritalin which seems to help. I will have to speak to my doc again and see what he says. Have you seen a specialist about this? I know rage very well, and there was a time about 5 years ago when I could beat someone up just for driving stupid or looking at me in a funny way. I then decided it's enough, as I was afraid of getting stomach ulcers or worse; also I had loads of issues with my body - back pain, headaches almost every day, sleepiness, stomach cramps, breathing difficulties.... do you experience any of this? I went to see a psychiatrist who deferred me to a psychologist to have cognitive therapy. This helped a lot, because you are then forced to think about your thoughts and actions and so learn to control it. It doesn't sound like you'd manage to, but perhaps try to think WHY you feel that rage when you notice it starts again? Something great my psychologist taught me was "A-B-C" analysis - "A"  is the initial incident that makes you angry / nervous/ anxious, "C" is how you feel, and "B" is what you think. The miraculous thing about this is: "A" is unchangeable, but when you change "B", i.e. the way you think about an event, you will also change "C", i.e. the way you feel about it! Try it (perhaps with something rather trivial) and see if it works. It may help to put it on paper in the beginning (or in your case, possibly on the pc ;-)).

Good luck!

Hi,

I have been watching a few programs on TV regarding ADD & ADHD. In essence I'm a 42 your old guy who from my earlist memory have experienced some of the symtoms associated to this illness.

I've always been one who was not good at school, my concentration levels have me changing from one topic to the next, at the drop of a hat. Being a self employed web developer, even though I do finish work, it takes me up to 3 times as long as it should.

However the most distressing for me & for anyone I'm in a realationship with, is my uncontrolable rage.

I've tried to control this, as in walk away, go for a walk & so & so forth. However it's as if I simply have no control. I'm aware that I'm about to blow a gasket, however no matter what I do the rage just keeps building up & then bang!

My house ends up resembling a war zone, and I'm constanly having to repair holes or replace items that have been in front of me when I lose the plot.

In all honesty as I am sure you can appreicate, this is really starting to affect me. At this stage I'm still not sure if I have this disorder, but if I don't reasearch & or ask questions then nothing changes.

So any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

go to www.mindfixers.com and take the test provided there of look up the Amen clinic.  It takes a long time to take so do it when you are not in a hurry.  I took the test twice just to see if it came up with the same answers and it did.  I do have it.  I have some rage too but mostly I just bite my lip and yell.  I am a female so I assume that is why it never goes farther than that. Everything makes me mad especially driving when someone pulls out in front of me.  I am 38 and the only reason I found out now that I have it is because I have a foster to adopt child that I thought had it.  I began reading about  it.  Remember that you don't have to have exactly the same symptoms as everyone else but you do have to have a certain number of characteristics. Hope this helps.  There is another man on this site that has his personal web page on rage but I have to remember where it is.  I am new to the site and read almost every post yesterday. I was glad to have found it.
