Wellbutrin Update | ADHD Information

I've been taking 300mg of Wellbutrin for 9 years now and I've never had any side effects other than some hot flashes when I first started taking it.  My doctor said that Wellbutrin isn't something you have to wean off of like some of the other antidepressants.  I'm happy that it is working for your son!  Good luck to you!

I'm not sure how to post this without just stating my experiance and asking you to give it some serious thought. Everyone reacts differently to meds however, so I hope this dosn't happen to you. I took wellbutrin for about 6 months, loved it mostly, some very bad side effects though. Some were... Light sensitivity, nightmares(extreeme), slight delusional thinking( especially about food) slight bulimia, I lost 30 lbs in 6 mo. I do not have now nor have ever had before or since food issues, OCD symptoms, extreeme headaches, these were just side effect while on it. The withdrawl from wellbutrin when it stopped working was the WORST withdrawl ever! Major depression--Someone else posted their depression from wellbutrin withdrawl was way worse than any depression felt prior to taking it, I would agree. I was in bed for probably a week with depression and flu like symptoms, body aches, paranoia and some suicidal thoughts. I'm not saying this to discourage anyone but I am concerned because I am 32 and can not imagine a child having to go through any of this. I kept taking wellbutrin until it quit working because for me all these side-effects were worth the positives--Such as no depression, anxiety and a very clean house plus weight loss. But I just want you to be aware and monitor closely, I knew when it quit working and i'm scared that if your son has to go through the same withdrawl ( that was a slow wean off meds, might I add) it will be very scary for him and for you. I believe this is why doctors do not prescibe it to children and in my opinion should not. My son is dx ADHD/ODD and is 7 years old.  It has been 2 1/2 months since my son has been on Wellbutrin and all is going very well.  That along with drinking XANGO has made a huge difference in him.  He has had no side effects at all.  He is a totally changed kid.  No more anger outbursts/hyperness at school.  He is making/keeping friends now.  His attention/focus has improved alot.  I am so proud of him!  I just thought I would share since there are not too many kids that are on Wellbutrin for ADHD.I am using wellbutrin, so far it helped me a lot.
I can't say much about the side effects because I already had all of them before I use any kind of medication....

It only made me a little less hungry, but as long as I don't miss meal times I am fine.
