does any have a young child with ADHD and how do you give them their medicine if they are unable to swallow a pill? I have tried appelsauce, pudding and yogurt. It will work for a day or so and then he flat out refuses to take a bite of what ever I am using at the time. Every morning it is struggle and we just both get upset and frustrated. please help.

Lots of liquid to get it down. It takes lots of practice like anything in life you get better with over and over again doing. Tell the child it is not a choice. Our son gets his Vitamin by liquid then breakfast then his med. If your child is unwilling to swallow a pill don't assume it's just because he's being stubburn. My son has a horrible gag reflex and he can't swallow them no matter how hard he tries. We could offer him 0 and he still wouldn't be able to do it. We used to practice with tic tacs but to no avail. My ds is 8 and has never been able to swallow pills. So with his adderall, we open the capsule and put it in juice or his new favorite- peppermint or chamomile tea.
Then I give him a straw, (because the little pieces of the pill sink to the bottom), and he tries to chase them and swallow them. He has fun...
We just practiced taking pills...using small bits of candy sprinkles...my son was like yours and refused to take the meds in applesauce, pudding ect....it was a big mess until he learned to take the pills...I suggest set aside 5 minutes a day and practice with the candies( very small of course) and get some success, then move up to the next size....reward him for good attempts, keep the sessions short, positive..you can find lots of info on the web about teaching to swallow pills
